i am also a fan of the book, but i'm afraid that hollywood will f@"k this up.
already they have cast mostly white actors to play the blackjack team which in the book (and in real life) were almost all asian.
i can only see this getting worse.

It's really, really average. Not bad by any means, but nothing special

The trailer makes it look very very high-concept. I think I'll pass.

I thought in the book they could pass off as asian easier, but i def thought the main guy was a white bloke!
Great book hope they don't f it up but they probably will.

'Leave your brain at the door' would apply to this. Seems that 9 out of 10 films released require this these days.
    Overly silly and dumbed down.
    5/10 maybe. If it's lucky.

Should i read the book before i go see this??

Have the book now but will reading it take away the element of suprise from viewing the film??

I haven't seen the movie yet but would still definitely recommend reading the book first. I always go by that rule and it seems to be the best. you'd probably read the book in about 3-5 days anyway, very hard to put down.

I think the same could be said for the book actually - entertaining enough read, but it really felt padded out. I definitely wouldn't have thought it would have been in-depth enough for regular card players.
