I wonder can anyone help me. My macbook won't turn on, when I start it, I only get the apple pic but it won't go any further. I think I may have deleted a file by mistake when I was tidying up my desktop etc. Is there an option with the installation disk to recover or anything else I can do? Any help would be apprectiated

Stick in your OS disc and restart your machine holding down the "c" key until you get the swirling symbol under the apple. Then when the disc screen loads go to the disc utility menu and run permission, disk check etc. Sorry I cant think of the menu options offhand right now.. someone might know them without thinking about it.

you may also run an archive and install, this will install a clean system but will keep existing user settings and preferences, just proceed as above and change the installation type.

Thanks for your help. Had tried all of the above before I posted but nothing worked. Backed up everything and had to do a clean install. All working now :)
