Are there allot of doves in Ireland? I' see them all the time and get the feeling they're following me. They seem to follow me up to the shop. Not as in they fly alongside but one would be sitting on a wall then fly away but I'd see him again watching me when I got to the shop. Why for they do this?

Are doves the same as white pigeons?

Do you mean collared doves? They're very pale grey - almost white - with a dark ring around their necks like a collar.
There are tons of those, I once counted 14 in my back garden in winter when we put food out for birds.

Some of the posters over in the Nature & Bird Watching Forum might be able to give you a better idea about numbers etc?

You should give it a name and log when you see it.

I call him peter, I get paranoid that it's god trying to send me a message. I always thought of pigeons as a very religious symbol.

Doves are the same species as pigeons, the gray pigeons from the country-side are called 'Rock Doves' after all They are probably just following you in the hope you'll give them food, simple as that ;)

Id guess your just notcing seeing this bird then, for example I drive a red fiat. Therefore I notice every red fiat bravo when im out on the road ... i never notice numerous pink peugeots.

You could also have a particular bird in your area.

Are you suggesting the birds are following you for some paranormal reason?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,789 ✭✭✭✭ScumLord

Yes. Not birds, bird. I'd sware he's watching me, it's not that I see him out and about like other birds. He's sitting somewhere watching me, I'd walk on and there he is again around the next corner watching me.
