Moving to Ireland from the UK

Hi, excuse my ignorance and if this is in the wrong forum please feel free to move it to the right place!

Basically I am a Brit in my 20's who is moving over to Dublin in a few weeks time for personal reasons but I face a bit of a chicken and egg situation with regards to working in Ireland.

I'm going to be flatsharing, finding a place when I get over, the thing is though the whole PPS number/banking situation confuses me like hell.

To work I am going to need an Irish bank account and a PPS number right? Though to get these I'm going to need my passport (easy enough) and proof of residence (perhaps not so easy).

Would a contract for a house count as proof of residence or would it have to be a household bill? If the latter it could be a right pain in the arse; what if my new flatmates won't let me take a bill in my name? Or what if the next one doesn't come for a month/a quarter? Would anything else be accepted?

I'm going to need this for both I assume, how long will it take to get a PPS number and bank account in general? Will I be able to work/look for work in the meantime or will I have to wait til they come through?

Probably the completely wrong forum but I have an overdraft on my British bank account, I intend to keep it open and just service the debt, will this proove an issue to an Irish bank when I apply?

Also I am looking to temp at first will this pose any problems? What are the best agencies for picking up decent admin work quickly? Is there any great websites I should be looking at?

Finally in the UK I've done general admin and IT presales work.... what would be the going rate for this kind of work in the Republic (I got £18k in the UK).

Cheers for all your help, can't wait to get over.
