afaik...there will be an option of different alloys on the sports models. All hatch's will now come standard with rear spoiler. there will also be a higehr spec called the sakata. this was available everyhwere but ireland until now.

in 05/06 touring models didnt come with alloys. in fact, only the highest spec, sports did. now the comfort se, touring and sports do. the lenses on the lights have also changed.

the mazda 5 is next for a facelift.

    zoom zoom!

My little sister has a 05 Mazda 3 hatchback 1.6. Its a nice car, very comfortable but a bit slow for the engine size. Its very thirsty too compared to my Civic 1.8. She discounted the 1.4 version and the 1.4 Focus because she reckoned they disn't have the get up and go of her admittedly hard driven 1.0 Yaris! The facelifted version of the 3 looks the same to me except different front lights. Mazda seem to specialise in subtle facelifts, hard to tell the difference between my mother's 03 and 06 Mazda 6 too.

I think the rear lights got changed on the facelift, sort of faux Lexus lights jobbie.

Yep facelifted model has smoked or tinted rear light cluster. Comfort model has black exterior door handles and door mirrors too:

You would need your anerak on to spot the differences at the front end. A different shaped front bumper with chrone surroud fog lamp vents being the only difference I can make out.

losing the colour coded mirrors and handles is hardly progress! are both models pictured base models?

Yep, the Comfort model from what I can tell. Standard trim levels and prices seemed to have changed when Mazda changed distributers in 2006. I think the 6 actually became a little cheaper and the model line up was stream lined.

Thats a pitty. This seems to be happening with a lot of cars. VRT changes are supposed to be coming in next year too. So we'll all be talking about co2 emmisions soon.
