Telephone poles look disgusting in the Irish countryside. I opt for the removal of telephone poles for a new system. Discuss.

Off with you, you can pay for all the digging and laying of cables underground. We won't object (until you start disrupting traffic).

I saw an interesting sign in Roebuck Ucd the other day stating that-"Bicycles attached to poles will be removed". Whould such action remove any need for such signs and perhaps damage our sign printing industry? My personal opinion is that we should keep some of the nice looking poles and also the poles which are doing a good job. Mass removal will hardly be necessary.

Well actually, there's a basis for a serious discussion here. How come in France they keep their countryside almost free of telephone poles. They still use telephone poles, but they keep them very well hidden. Especially in and around Normandy, if anyone has been there.

On a serious note, I heard somewhere before that the government once had the money together to start doing it but it would cost 10 as much to cover all the legal fees of farmers not wanted the lines buried on their land! Not sure if its true or not.

Poles are cheap, burying cables is'nt. Ireland is the land of the cheapest option.

France have all underground sewer systems and a well designed network.
You know how Ireland works, build something, see it's totally ****ing wrong tear it up, rebuild it... rinse and repeat.
