Heard loads about this guy but never got to go to any of his sessions before.

    Looking forward to it.

I wouldn't miss this! I hope its an open event, I just text Kevin Hannigan there to find out.
Barada is one of my favourite fighters.

    Enjoy :)

Sorry bit off topic I know... But I noticed from watching that video that TKD practitioners seem to keep their hands very low despite head shots being allowed. What's the reasoning behind this?

Id say its to keep their heads behind their shoulders and to block off as much of the face as possible?

    edit ---
ooops i mis read that - i thought he said heads!!

Cant access that vid at work, but I know what you mean. We just like getting hit in the head! :)

Not sure why really - I think a bad habit and an over reliance on dodging and using speed than blocking / covering up. I know anytime I've let my hands down in comp that I've got a decent smack though so I for one try to keep them up, then again I'm not particularly quick so cant do a nazeem on it! I don't think its also reiterated enough in training either, esp compared to boxing training where you're constantly told to keep your hands up.

Cool video! :) That's how light contact/TKD should be done. Sweet hook kick.

The hands down thing is pretty much a result of the fact that the competition is not full contact, and it's not geared towards landing the most effective shots, it's about landing often.

Thanks to the INTA for this

    Jon, you're addicted to boards.ie!!! :)
Good to meet you and to spar! I was watching you and Ciaran spar at the end there when I was sitting out (damn knee acting up again). Was a great session, and thought Barada was very nice guy. Will have to practise those drills. I've realised how unfit I am though after that! Hopefully will make Mr Dalton's sparring seminar now. Enjoy rest of bank hol!

    This was very good.
I was surprised that I was able to hold for the four hours (I did the middle session and the 3rd one.), but I did. Still, it certainly showed me areas where I need to make improvements. I actually found the Yellow/Green belt session physically harder. The 3rd session was more about learning and applying the drills, which were interesting, intelligent etc. Again, I need to be fitter to pull that stuff off.
I felt elderly in the middle session (I need to grade!), but he was great with the kids. Then he had a totally different attitude when dealing with the higher grades, so I was impressed with his instruction skillz.

Not sure if I met anyone off the board, everyone there was sound out though.

I was the one that kept getting boxed in the face :D

I was the tall skinny blue tip called Seán, but there's two tall skinny blue tips called Seán, which I can assure is great craic altogether.
I was the one with longish hair.
