    Just wondering can I get some recommendations for some good anime to watch. I've seen a few, liked some, found others very boring.

    Liked;
    Neon Genesis Evangelion
    Elfen Lied
    Princess Mononoke
    Spirited Away

    Didn't like;
    Rurouni Kenshin
    Naruto

    Alright;
    Akira
    Ghost In The Shell
    Howl's Moving Castle

    So based on these could some people make some recommendations? Thanks.

    ok

    dubit10, just wondering why you are replying "ok," since you didn't start this thread?

    that aside, there seems to be one of these threads every 5/6 weeks and the same stuff is mentioned every time, i know i am guilty of starting one (although that was for series that were currently showing in japan.)
    should there be a sticky for this maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,977 ✭✭✭mp3guy

    Yeah, I was thinking there should be some sort of recommendations thread, with movies/series sorted under what genre they are and maybe a "for fans of..." thing.

    Well I dont know - I think it will simply turn into titles grouped by genre :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53 ✭✭WadeTalon

    Cowboy bebop is great, 3x3 eys is also a classic, Full metal alchemist is good, both the Vampire hunter D movies also good, if ye want something mental try Excel saga.

    Samurai Champloo is excellent. Im old school so I love the likes of Lensman, fist of the North star(movie not series), Odin, Venus Wars (absolutely brillant one of the best anime movies ever made in my opinion).

    Perfect Blue. Ghost in the shell Stand alone complex this series is also brilliant follows the manga very well for most of the series (most folk call it G.I.T.S. S.A.C)

    2 anime's based on your "likes" are... Keroro Gunsou, and Dr Slump.

    Most of the ones I've seen above are ones that are similar to the ones you said you don't like (eg... more violence based like naruto or whatever)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 32 eziite

    Fruit Basket - some romance & fun
    Ouran Host Club - some romance & very funny
    Lucky Star - school anime, funny
    Bleach - no fun, but good story
    If you want more, look in animenfo.com top 100 :)

    I'm sure youre not the only one but I think a lot of people hide the fact because of peer pressure. Its a bit like saying you hate the Beatles when your trying to join a rock band :D.

    *BOOM* Headshot.

    You hate Akira? That's a pretty strong word. I don't know how anyone could hate something with that high an animation quality, especially the first half.

    For example, I really really don't like Ghost in the Shell. Always turn it off with a 'meh' about half way. I can still appreciate the level of quality to the animation and the cinematography though. Certainly wouldn't hate it.

    To be honest, I reserve all my hate for The Beatles.

    I hate the animation. The sound quality was poor. The chase scenes were below par. Bah all around.
