Why is the Jackpot league final ROE and not hold'em??

    As the title suggests...

The round of each game doesnt seem to be going there as much as before and even at its peak there was always more hold'em being played. I for one play a lot in the jackpot and am incapable of playing Omaha and this handicaps me for the final.

Does it not make more sence to have it a PLH/NLH tourney?

i'm guessing it's because it's for both hold'em and omaha cash game players?

and that HE and PLO are plaid in about equal amounts in there

edit:when is this and how many hours do you need?

I'm a bit annoyed that the Fitz cash league final isn't ROE.

The last while it hasnt been played in equal amounts. I'd go as far as to say 90% hold'em (okay that is probably exagerated a little). But certainly way over 50% of the games are hold'em.

The final is this Sat and its a 60 hour minimum

It should be an incentive to learn a new game then shouldn't it?

Yeah thats a good point, makes sense. I think it should be whatever game is played most by the qualifiers, be it ROE or PLH. Otherwise some will have an unfair advanteage over the next in what is lets not forget a €30,000 tourney

You are correct, HE makes up about 90% of the pot but the PLO players pay towards the cash league too. Im glad its there, it evens up the field a hell of a lot.

I remember in the last cash league I was a little apprehensive about the ROE element, but I found it to be one of the most enjoyable tournys that I've ever played. With lots of play and a change from the norm of NLH tournys it really was a great game! Hope I have enough hours to play this time? bit of a change, as I had 500 hours last time!:D:D

FFS Gary just play tight in the early omaha rounds and play 100% coordinated hands, no danglers. On the flop only continue if you have the nuts or draws to the nuts and are getting a good price and protect all made hands with big bets. Don't bluff ever. Perhaps semibluff if you really think its on.

    Don't slowplay anything - ever.

On the later rounds of omaha only enter pots raising and jamming.

Already you have an edge over the "pot" "pot" merchants as they won't adjust to a tournie structure so will be betting too many chips in the early stages in small pots when playing relatively shallow and getting pot committed and in later rounds they may fold on missed flops when they should be jamming with weaker hand holdings (over pair to the board say) when you should have a tighter image to take advantage with semibluffs.

Anyway learn how to play other games!! ;)

I think the ROE format is excellent for the cash league final. As Ross said above, it's a good break in what is; after all, a freeroll tournament, to play something other than Hold Em. If you look at the biggest stacks in the tournament saturday the top 3 are all regulars in the ROE cash game.

Ultimately the Jackpot, just like the Fitz, SE et al, is a poker room, not a Hold Em room. Omaha is a very good and, despite what other threads here might have you believe, skillful game that is eminently enjoyable. Plus maybe the Cash league will get the Omaha game some new players.

Though I would add the caveat that the standard of Omaha in the cash league is unlikely to be very good, but it will definitely lead to more than one stand-up and scream at the flush-being-beat-when-the-board-pairs moment over the course of the night.

Gary if you had made some effort to learn how to play plo I might have some sympathy for you. However considering your reluctance to speculate with even one crumpled up 50euro note at our table over the last year means that I will take great pleasure from taking all your chips with top set against your bottom 2 pairs. Its always the people that moan constatly about the tournament format being r/e that show no willingness to attain some knowledge of plo and give themselves a chance to compete. Ross had very little omaha experience before the last league final but he made some effort in the weeks leading up to the event by occassionally jumping in on the omaha cash games. The rewards were there on the night of the tourney with a share of first prize and 4000euro. I was on his table for much of the tournament and he played his omaha hands exceptionally well. So rather than coming on here and throwing your soother out of the pram in righteous indignation you would be much better served going off and learning as much about the game as possible over the next few days. My suggestion would be to read the plo section in Super System 2 and try to play some live omaha cash if possible. If not, then at least play some micro level plo on line.

I made quite a consious effort to play Omaha with rather terrible results before the last league final. I had plenty of hours clocked up then and felt it was important for my game to get some practise. I practised and lost money playing the regular ROE game. I was in fact quite a joke at the table come to think of it, the laughing stock of the jackpot but I wasnt laughing, I was losing money and with it many a crumpled up €50 note. In fact I remember playing with you specifically several times back then and am somewhat annoyed you dont. Since then I've made a substantial deposit into full tilt. I played 25c 50c there for a couple 1000 hands and was a consistent and steady loser. I read books, I read forums and I asked people for help.

Ross is an exceptional example as he had a masive chip stack (if not the chip lead) going into the final and is a v solid player to boot, better than me if you will so all that said I would give him a much beeter chance at winning the tournament than me for example. Ross had v little experience playing EPT's before but yet he cashed on his maidan attempt in Barcelona in 2006, he's a great player and they do great things.

At this point in time I have no interest in playing Omaha. I dont like it, I dont enjoy it and I lose money playing it. I dont want to play Omaha and thats my decision. Not yours, not the Jackpots and not anyone elses'.
