    Next Generation of Film-makers Showcase
    Their Creative & Comedic Talents

Shorts & Giggles; A not to be missed night of laughter, fun, frolics and fantastic footage.

This once-off event provides the opportunity to discover the hidden comedic talents of student film-makers countrywide, in one frivolous evening. On the 27th of November 2007, The Sugar Club on Leeson Street will host this student short-film competition with well-renowned Irish stand-up comedians performing, all in aid of Aware.

We want film students from various colleges throughout the country to send in their favourite comedy short clips to enter into the competition in the hope of winning. Organisers of this event are not making any profit and wish for any surplus funds to be fully donated towards the Aware charity foundation for suicide and depression. There will also be a donation box at the door as you enter in case anybody is feeling extra charitable on the night.

On the night you will be ushered from reception into the venue auditorium where a fully-stocked bar will be located at the back of the room for those who wish to have a few drinks, and comfortable seating and tables will be provided for you to find a snug spot. We will start off the evening with a couple of stand-up comedians to get things rolling and then roll-on the films. Once all of the final contestant’s films have been screened, the spectators themselves will have the ultimate decision as to who wins through an audience-interaction voting technique. The award will then be presented to the lucky winner and the fun keeps going as the show reels on with more comedic performance and a fun after-party for those who dare to stay around till later hours!

We welcome anybody from the competing students themselves to the general public with a passion for comedy and/or film to anybody just looking for something fun to do on a weeknight, to attend and to simply enjoy them-selves. This evening will be a very laid-back and casual release but also entertaining and exciting with a few fun surprises in store! Come one and come all to the Shorts & Giggles comedy short-film festival!
