you just beat me too it.

Prices seem really good, especially for poster and canvas printing.

No doubt they are just reselling the prodcuts and services of one of the big guys - I wonder who?

    Some great prices.

Seem to be through Medion, I'm sure printing will be done in Germany.

Strange size choices though, it seems to be confined to 3:2 ratio, I would imagine a lot of the target market are using compact cameras which generally have 4:3 ratio.

I clicked the 'contact' button and this is what they say...
Your contact form for photo service support!

    Dear photo service customer,

Your satisfaction is very important to us. That is why you can contact us by email. Emailing us saves you telephone charges and you get answers to your questions and solutions to your problems delivered direct to your 'inbox'.

How generic can you get? Made me laugh.

The contact button opens a new window and it is from medion.de

    this happened to me before
it was down to not have my monitor calibrated

Ah I have a crt monitor...few years old now...should really invest in a new flat screen :D....

Typhoon flay screens are not as good as CRT for photo editing your problem is without doubt as quilmore said is that you need to calibrate the screen, as for this photo service a buddy of mine ordered over 100 ohoto's last friday and they arrived at his door packed very well on tues morning the order included 6x4 and A4 prints

I've ca;ibrated it using test charts on line....ya know where the blacks are black and the whites are pure white.....and you can see all the shades in between clearly....so i doubt my monitor is far out

i must go get a look at my flickr page on someone elses comp see if i notice any difference

thanks for the heads up guys

aldi have good prices...was goin mad when the upload failed...they were a good 6 yo yos cheaper for 126 prints 6x4

I couldn't agree more, the colour rendition of a CRT is no match for an affordable LCD (lacie has some good ones at a grand a pop)

what was the paper like on the A4? same as for 6x4?
is there an option to choose for matt paper?

just got a hard cover photo book
the quality of the book and the pages is very good (size A4)
small pictures are a bit compressed and doesn't look as good as bigger pictures
I guess that's part of the "upload" procedure and not with the print
I'd say it will be a good thing to create each full page with some other software in high resolution and then use them as background for each page (and no individual pictures)

just got a hard cover book from them, I used large 8mp photos, 1 per page, quality is perfect, the only thing is that the saturation is a bit lower than I got on other print outs, would that be down to the type of paper ?

not to me, but compression on reduced (by them) pictures is notorious
    full page are OK

    well, I've got my prints
    I've ordered some 30+ 4"x6" and 3 8"x12"

at least it wasn't expensive (some 4 euro for the lot including delivery)
    because the quality is appalling
definition is Good, contrast OK, saturation is Very Poor and colour rendition is Very BAD

I have my monitors calibrated and when I usually print I get what I see
but this is not the case by miles
skintones look pale making everybody like a wax version of yourself
    yellows are brown
    blues are purple
    reds are pink

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

but the photo book is quite good, must be done by a different machine
that is if you create your full pages beforehand, don't leave the software to compress your pictures (they look awful)

Sorry to revive such an old post, but I've tried Aldi Photo Services and I've been
burned the second time I've ordered on line.

The first time I've ordered 680 prints and I've got them delivered after four days (I've used the Aldi Online Print Service software to upload the photos and order them - 638MB in total). The quality it's average but for the price I've paid I didn't mind.

Only yesterday I've ordered another 805 prints the same way as the first time but the last step in the process - the photo upload - failed, the server would not respond to my upload request.
When I checked my Credit Card, they charged me the transaction for all the photos - 805 photos in total- but without receiving any photo from me.
I also got no order confirmation (I've no Order Number for this transaction).

I've contacted my Credit Card company but they said that they can't cancel the transaction. It will be canceled only if Aldi/Medion will agree to do it .

I've rang the Medion Customer Care and the guys in UK have no clue about the Medion Print Service they are running for Aldi.

I've sent a message to Medion via http://www.medion.de/mailing/foto_uk.php but it looks that it will take days to get a replay if I will get any.

For all of you willing to order prints from Aldi, be aware that the service looks to be a hit and miss, better use another trusted photo processing service not the Aldi one.

    Regards,

    Mendo

Just found this on the DVD forum, another user from UK had the same problems.
I wish I could have used Paypal, but this option was removed by Aldi.

Hi, Yes I have tried to use the Aldi Service but never again!

Placed an order for 3 photographic calendars on the 28 October 2007. Everything appeared to go well except at the last stage when I was returned from Paypal back to the Aldi site when an error code was generated.

I immediately attempted to query this with Aldi using the site's online form but this proved difficult as the form would not accept United Kingdom as my country, selecting a different country did work (since rectified).

Received replies from Aldi on the 1/4 November 2007 asking if I had received the calenders or an order confirmation, they confirmed receiving my Paypal payment.

On the 9 November, I replied, that I had not received calenders nor an order confirmation. Have received nothing back from Aldi since.

As I paid by Paypal, I can deal with this issue via Paypal's resolution centre, started on the 16 November. To date I have heard nothing from Aldi since the 4 November, so it seems I will need to escalate my dispute with Aldi to a claim via Paypal's resolution centre!!!

    Anyone had a similar experience?
