If they've more than one album, the album I recommend is in brackets...

    Wolf Parade
...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of the Dead ("Source Tags and Codes")
    TERRORDACTYL (myspace.com/thedactyls)
    ¡Forward, Russia!
Pretty Girls Make Graves ("The New Romance")
Minus the Bear ("Highly Refined Pirates" or "Menos El Oso", both amazing)
    White Rose Movement
    Islands

I reckon most, if not all, of these will suit your tastes :)

Good call on silversun pickups, i've just recently been converted to them myself after hearing them on a boston radio station that has a daily playlist of only 10 different songs!

Add Neutral Milk Hotels - In the aeroplane over the sea to your list.
    Iron & Wine
    Decemberists

Are the Postal Service not working on a new album or was that just talk about maybe working on one?

Edit: Just had a look at wiki, sounds promising!
    Second album

On June 22, 2006 it was revealed that The Postal Service had begun work on a new album, though the specifics of the release date are ambiguous: Gibbard stated "We're slowly starting. We're crawling right now, and whether that crawl turns into a walk remains to be seen. But we'll know more towards the end of the year. I've just been touring so much and trying to find time to make it happen and make our schedules line up." Tamborello also added "We're talking about wanting to finish an album by sometime next year, because we have to work with Death Cab's schedule and stuff. I definitely want to do another one." As of mid-2007, they are said to be about six songs into their new album. However, they say that with that progress, they are not even halfway done with the second album. The latest reports say that the progress of the recording is starting to pick up, and once again, guest artists such as Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley will be involved in writing and vocals. Jimmy Tamborello has said that he heard Ghostface Killa enjoyed "Such Great Heights", and that he would enjoy collaborating with him. A recent Spin article hinted that the new album would be released on Christmas Day. However, this appears to be a misunderstanding. According to Sub Pop "we are nowhere near a new Postal Service record."

Ok my big recommendation is a UK band called Seafood.

    http://www.myspace.com/seafoodtheband

They've been around quite a while and I first got into them when I saw them supporting Ash in 2001. Previously they shared a tour with Turn and Wilt. Their albums are absolutely brilliant and well worth a purchase/download/listen.

    The albums are -

    Messenger In The Camp (1998)

    Surviving The Quiet (2000)

When Do We Start Fighting? (2001)

    As The Cry Flow (2004)

    Paper Crown King (2006)

Here's the video for 2006 single 'Signal Sparks' -

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi4NLYwaoSk

A really great relatively unknown band so why not give them a try?!
