I remember when they came out in the early 80's - everyone had a soda stream bottle with their lunch at school and Dunnes had a full aisle just selling soda stream syrup. It was such a craze. The coke was rotton but it was the only coke we'd get so we were delighted with it.
I think ours is still in a press in my parents house gathering dust.

Well if it makes you feel any better, ours was second hand! My mam won a coffee maker and she HATES coffee, and swapped it with my aunt for her sodastream maker...my poor cousins got a coffee maker when we got their sodastream maker :p

    Fizzy milk tastes mankey, FACT!

I just thought you might all like to know the results of certain scientific experiments conducted way back then...

Oh the replacing of the gas always took forever, cos your mother had to remember to bring the empty cylinder down to the shop to get a new one!
Used to have Kia-Ora orange instead of the soda stream make of drinks and it tasted like Fanta...mmm!

I loved Soda Stream. Even just fizzing up water turned it into something magic. And now everyone drinks sparkling water :D I was the first, I say, I was THE FIRST!!! :D

Remember when you put too much gas in the bottle - it sort of exploded - I was always scared of that! (well I was a bit of a wimp when younger...):D

I remember them.. I felt so posh with a glass bottle for lunch, while others had their home made ribena in old plastic coke bottles.

Sure kids today dont even make their own ribena they just buy it pre-made.. Its a lost art...

We never had one :( I was so deprived!
All my friends did though, so I used to go to their house all the time.

Soda streams were the business. Ours made mad honking noises as well when gassing up the liquid, no idea if that was a universal trait. Forgetting to pull that handle down before you start was a bad idea too. What with the syrup and the gas cylinders, it probably didn't work out much cheaper than other fizzy drinks in the end I'd say.
