Burmese Prime Minister at the Hist - Wednesday 24th October

Just a head's-up that Sein Win, the Burmese Prime Minister in exile, will be speaking at the Hist on Wednesday about the state of affairs in Burma on behalf of the Burmese President Aung San Suu Kyi. He'll be fielding questions from the floor as well, so if anyone has any interest in the developments in Burma, it's well worth a look.

This is following the visit by First Minister of Northern Ireland Ian Paisley on Friday and Oscar-nominee James Cromwell on the Tuesday previous, with author John Mortimer due to visit the following week and Nobel laureate Harold Pinter and Mexican President Vicenti Fox popping in before Christmas, as well as a surprise or two along the way.

Can we stop with the advertising of society events now? Maybe set up one thread or something. This is a total plug, and the entire second paragraph is just about hte hist being great.

Yeah, perhaps setting up a thread but having confines on it (people posting have to say Where, Who, When, How Much, etc.) and not just be a 10,000 character press release. Maybe also limit it to one post per week per society, otherwise I'm sure there'll be one every hour from someone in the PHist stating how this hour we have X, and another hour we have Y. And then you'll just get the Mathsoc people giving out about Phisties using X and Y in a non-mathematical form.

Won't someone please think of the Mathsocies.
