When you say "town" do you mean Dublin? I got my first job at 16 in Tesco - just walked in and said to a supervisor that I was interested in getting work. She called the staff manager out and we had a chat, she gave me a form to fill, when I returned it to her, she pretty much said "welcome aboard". Places like that are always looking for people and don't expect much experience. They're not amazing places to work and the money's not great, but it's a start.

RDF would be different. What I'm planning to do when I'm 17. 352 euro weekly.

Might not be your thing but just an idea:) good luck with whatever you do

Loads of places are taking on part timers for Christmas. Have a look around, you should see lots of shops with ads.

Sorry mate but I think you got some bad info about the RDF. It's a volunteer organisation, and you're not paid weekly at all. They go camping about once a year for a week(I think), and you're paid for that, but you certainly don't get a weekly wage! I don't think even recruits in the PDF actually earn €352 a week :D

I think that the €352 per week rate is correct but you only earn it for the 40 or so days (max) of full time training you do in a calendar year.

Oh well I just saw this
    Pay
Weekly Rates of pay (from June 2006) for full-time training and duties are as follows:
    Private, Grade 1 (Recruit) EUR352.21
    Private, 2 Star EUR434.58
    Private, 3 Star EUR452.85

You may complete up to 42 days paid training per year in addition to unpaid weekends and field-days.

And assumed that was it. Jaysus i'm tired now:D
