4 Month Hiatus

Apparently, Prison Break will air it's first 12 or 13 episodes of season 3 between now and christmas, but then there'll be a 4 month wait until we see the remainder of the series, as it won't return until April 14th!!!
This isn't a strategic move to boost ratings, it's because the ratings have been dropping that Fox have decided to replace it with a new 13 part series in January and Prison Break is being brushed under the carpet until that finishes. This also means unless ratings boost dramatically that this will also be the final series of Prison Break, let's just hope Fox don't pull one of their usual tricks and cancel the series mid-season and we won't even see the conclusion of the series.

They could very well do that. It happened with The Black Donnelly's. It leaves no doubt that there won't be fourth series that's for sure.

Thats a shame. I really like Prison Break. Surely Fox are making a stack from selling the show abroad? Assholes....

Could it be going the way of Lost ratings wise.

I would rather they stopped at three if it meant series four would be bollocks.

Yeah me too, the current series is fairly bollocksy so far.

Probably for the best that there probably won't be a 4th season. The show's not a patch on what it was 2 years ago. Starting to lose all interest in it.

By this season so far, and last season, it should have been a one season-er!

I disagree. I am enjoying this season and thought season two was great.

Definitely. The whole Sona thing is a bit boring to be honest.
It's like they ran out of ideas and said "let's put him back in a prison and make him escape again as people seemed to like that". YAWN

Well it is called Prison Break. I don't know, plenty of people just want a reason not to like something.

This better not be true this 4 month hiatus! god i remember i was dying waiting a month for the second season to return this will drive me mad!

I think that the 3rd season so far is really good and I loved the second one aswell. Anyway, I really don't see this show being canned because AFAIK this is probably the second biggest sow to come out of the States in the past few years and with the money that Fox is receiving it for selling it to overseas TV companies, why would they can it?

The ratings that the likes of Lost, Heroes, Desperate Housewives, the CSI's earn trump prision break on both sides of the pond, and they command a hellva lot more Selling rights

Yeah its true, couldnt believe it myself when i came across it, as they want to do this:
In the interim, Fox will air The Sarah Connor Chronicles, now renamed Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, in Prison Break's usual timeslot.

It's a pain in the hole but this series is really starting to annoy me now. It's just starting to drag and doesn't have that same, I can't wait to find out what's gonna happen feel to it. This series has been fairly poorly written. I mean, has anything actually happened yet in the first 5 episodes?!

This'll probably be the last series which is kind of a shame, but there's only so much mileage you can get out of a prison break. Heroes ftw! There's still so much potential with that and hopefully it'll last as long as 24. There we are, that's cheered me up again! :)

What an irritation - surely they're going to just lose more fans by breaking for so long? I don't see their logic.

Although "Prison Break" has done well internationally, it doesn't necessarily follow that FOX has done well from it. It depends a lot on other factors, such as production companies and who owns the rights.
This came up with "Stargate:SG-1" when Sci-Fi cancelled it despite excellent DVD sales and solid international sales. It was the fact that MGM, owning the rights to the franchise, got the biggest cut of sales overseas and DVD sales despite the fact that Sci-Fi financed it. Sci-Fi only made money from ad sales during the sale. Ditto for "Buffy", which was shown by FOX (for the first while anyway) but owned by Warner Bros. There could be something similar with "Prison Break" that means FOX mostly rely on ads sales for their profit and if viewership declines then that could be the death of it.

Buffy was never on FOX , it was a wb show first, then after season 5 moved to upn.

Well for the most part the second season was fairly good except for the end were it just got so stupid, I thought the last 2 episodes of season 2 were terrible

'Soz - other way around. WB had the rights to show it but 20th Century FOX owned the rights and would have got most of the profits from DVD, merchandise, etc.

TV3 are showing the Sarah Connor Chronicles some time in the future, dunno when. They showed an ad for it last night.

That blows that there is going to be a long break. But most shows do it. Lost and Heroes did it last season too. I think does need to end though. I didn't particularly like season when they wer running around outside and free and I thought the last couple of episodes were a bit stupid altogether. The show only really makes sense when he is in prison and plotting an escape and how that all works out. Thats wht intially hooked everyone with the first series.
