    Hey,

I need to loose about 2 stone. I'm 5'9, 15.5 stone (big sholders/arms etc though). I'm 25 and have trained a lot up until I was 21/22. I'm still have some fitness, play ball with the lads .etc but I would just love to not be overweight at all, for the first time in my life. I was always some way overweight in my life, sometime more than others. I'm looking for some help/coaching (possibly program but I would respond better to a real person) that would help me achieve this. I'm quite active, do play sports and go to gym in phases but my diet has always been very poor.I could try this myself, but from experience It would last a month or two and then I would get tied up with work/social life again and lapse.

I heard some adds on the radio recently for motivational weight loss, but I did'nt catch the web address.

So I'm looking for advice on getting some help with this, motivation/diet/training session advice. I would like it to be regular so that I would be motivated. I also would feel like a tool in a class like weight watchers or something so it would have to be 1/1 or small private group. Appreciate your feedback or experiences, thanks

Transform and Boru on here both provide personal training. If its something you are interested maybe pop them a PM. Aside from that i dont think a trainer is really there to motivate you persay. Obviously getting instruction and a structured plan is a good start but you need to bring your own motivation to work hard and stick to the plan outside the sessions.

Sometimes life gets in the way, but in my experience it does come down to priorties. To lose weight getting your diet sorted out is the easiest way to get results. Have a look through the stickies and follow the advice. Start looking for reasons to stick with your goal, this will help you when other stuff comes up. IMHO nothing is quite as motivating as seeing results, so if you make a start and see improvements it will increase your motivation.

Is this what you were talking about?

It didnt get a very positive response.

Just one more thing (and then ill STFU) is that its important that you are supported in your efforts. You could start a fitness journal here if you think that would help or request that your friends and family support you as you work towards your goal.

Football with the lads, walking/running/jogging occasionally will only get you so far. The key is to make exercise it part of your routine, every day stuff. You should definitely sign up to the gym and fix your schedule so that you go a certain number of times every week. Get a few sessions with a trainer and start doing proper weights training. The trainer will show you how to do everything correctly, and will make you realise how you were previously only using a fraction of your potential.

There are weight management clinics that would suit what you're looking for - you go in once a week, they'll weigh you, check your body fat %, see what you've eaten, see what exercise you've done and help you stay on track. This is good from a motivational standpoint, but more importantly - it forces you to think about every morsel of food and every bit of exercise, and you start to realise that everything down to the cup of tea in the morning is a choice. If you get into the habit of making mostly positive choices, then it will be difficult to lapse.

It is not necessary to sign up to a weight management clinic... a trainer in the gym would be more beneficial, since he can also help with your diet, and monitoring your weight and body fat %. Get a notebook or use www.fitday.com to track everything you eat and the exercise you do. If you work hard on the diet and work hard in the gym, you can be close to your desired weight in a couple of months. You'll be much fitter and stronger, and you'll know a lot more about how to make healthy choices and manage your weight so that you don't put the 2 stone back on again.

Brilliant advice Cadrach. OP, the only way to do this is to get a plan and stick to it. Get a notebook and write down everything that passes your lips at the end of each day. You'll be amazed how you really watch what you eat - you'll know that it just isn't worth eating junk or anything you shouldn't be eating when you know you're holding yourself accountable at the end of each day by writing it all down. I've just started doing it and even the act of writing it all down gives you a great focus.
