Started watching this show on the new channel "Dave" (think its the new name for UKG2). Its one of the funniest shows Ive ever seen. Anyone else watch it.

they had to change the name of the channel to dave because the old name was putting people off it.

Class show allright but haven't seen it in years. Are you watching the UK or the US version? Your man Ryan is the star in both anyway and the baldy fella.

Is it like "Whose line is it anyway?"?

It is Whose Line Is It Anyway!

I used to watch it in the past so it's been great seeing it again on Dave (best name for a TV station ever). It's the UK version, i.e. when Clive Anderson hosted and not Drew Carey. Watching it last night I actually haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. They don't make them like this anymore.

Great programme and it made me wonder why its not been revived dammit! The North American regulars are particuarly good - Colin Mochrie Greg Proops and Ryan Stiles. Also some fun to be had watching the audience in baggy checked shirts and hairbands.

    Mike.

I cme home today and was flicking through the digibox, as I do every weekend and I saw "Dave" and I was like, what's going on here? But it is such a better name.
As for Who's Line Is It Anyway? - Great Show, but I love when people do live versions of it even more. If you ever get the chance to play it, do. It's great craic.

Yeah love that series, totally hilarious & cant believe its been that long as here's the info on the UK, US versions there was also a radio version but only lasted one season.

There's not much difference in the cast's as both had Mochrie, Stiles, Proops & Mike McShane, but i couldnt stand that eejit Tony Slattery :(

Mochrie & Stiles were a great combination, whenever they had to do that game where Ryan (Stiles) used his hands at the back of Colin & he had to used his eyesight & Ryan made him drink or eat most of the concoctions :D

The story of where the station might have got its name: i asked it here

Yeah he really seems to struggle to keep up with the others, expecially if its Stiles, Proops and Mochrie on with him.

fantastic show, remember seeing it when it originally aired. nice to see it finally return to our screens. the first couple of series wernt very good. stiles and mochorie only became regulars after about the 4th series i think which is when it got really good

Why is it called Dave? Everytime I put it on, I hear Ali-g saying 'me mate Dave' It's good though. Plenty of QI to keep me interested.

I wonder what they'll show on 'Bruce'. Probably repeats of Aussie soaps and the like! ;):D

As for 'Whose Line Is It Anyway', I used to always watch it back in the day when it was on Channel 4. Tried to never miss an episode. I'll agree with most posters here that the UK (Clive Anderson) version was stronger than the US (Drew Carey) version but, even then, the US version had lots of great moments.

And what can you say about Ryan Stiles. The guy is a bloody comedy genius. He'd have me in tears laughing with some of the stuff he used to come up with. Just looking at him would be enough to make you crack up! :D

Used to love that show. Saw them doing it live in the Laughter Lounge years ago with Paul Merton, Steve Frost, Richard Vranch and others and I don't think I've ever laughed so much in my life. Saw Greg Proops live in San Francisco a few years ago, and before the show I was pretty much expecting him to be like he was on Whose Line...?, but instead he was a lot angrier and very foul mouthed. Fortunately he was still hilarious.

the US version had lots of great moments.

Saw it during the week with a very young Ardal O Hanlon on it. Very funny

I much prefer the US one. Wayne Brady is very good, and that guy Chip someone. Think Drew Carey is more fun as a host too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 829 ✭✭✭standbyme

Yeah he was much better fun & sometimes joined in, as Clive seemed too wooden sometimes & rubbed up Greg Proops the wrong way at times!

Drew Carey is Canadian along with Stiles & Mochrie arent they, as i remember Carey had a sitcom with Stiles in it as well a while back late on RTE as usual!

It must be off on a hiatus or something on Dave as Top Gear was on tonite :o
