Resignation - huh!?

I resigned my post, giving 2 months notice (1 month required).

Understanding that the company was stretched and my loss wouldn't help with this I said that "within reason" I would be flexible with the date ... for me within reason is one - two months assuming the right incentives are there for me to remain on during that time.

Now that was it - have heard nothing back, work trundles on.

I plan on making travel commitments (taking some time out) quite soon and don't want to hang around on this.

Upshot: From a 'legal' POV as far as I know my original date as per my resignation letter stands am I correct in saying that?
