    Dear xxxx ,

Over the past few days, you may have received an email, SMS or text message with a website URL that asks you to download and install security updates for the Poker client. Regrettably, this is a malicious phishing attack. If you click on the link a Trojan virus infects your computer.

For example, the subject may be something like, "Betfair Poker: Several different blacklisted I.P's have tried logging in to your Betfair Account and several memorable data and password failure were present."

If you believe you are the victim of such an attack, please contact the Betfair Helpdesk on the details below, for assistance in protecting your Betfair account and minimizing the risks from this threat.

    UK Tel: 0870 9080 120
    Outside UK Tel: +44 207 074 7272
    Email: pokerinfo@betfair.com

If you have clicked on this link or installed the Trojan, our advice is to contact the helpdesk and request they suspend your account. Then when you have removed the Trojan virus your account can be re-activated and the password changed.

To help with protecting against attacks such as these, up to date Anti-virus programs should be used. For more detailed information on how to protect your computer and personal information while on the Internet select the help option on Betfair’s web pages and click on security within the menu. Betfair will never contact you by email or SMS with a link to an executable for a security patch or product upgrade. You can always find information about planned upgrades and notices on the Betfair forum.

    Yours Sincerely
