Seems Canon USA have officially identified a hardware problem and are in the processing of issuing RMA's for early 1DIII adopters. Canon UK have yet to hear the news...

Bejazus, that's a right screwup by Canon. Probably cost them more than the repair of the Hubble.....well not really, I suppose.

it'll cost em more in PR terms anyway... after denying there was any problem for the longest time.

Well they gave me a new camera only recently ... so hopefully it is new H/W ... I presume the recall will include serial numbers when it hits us ...

Please tell me the new camera you gave me is unaffected ... I don't think I could stand being without it for another 7 week period.

    regards,

    Simon

I dont think canon usa have released an affected serial number range yet, but if you got a spanking new camera I'd say you're out of the woods.
