    Hi,

I'm planning to buy a moped next week hopefully, i've done my CBT n everything so once i get my moped ill just insurance n be on the road. But the thing is, my parents don't agree on me getting one but i'm still going to. I was wondering, to buy insurance do you have to be over 18? I'm 16 and got a Vista Electron card.. will that be ok to buy it?

    Many Thanks.

    Jay

While you feel that you can do what you like, it would be better if you talked it over with your folks. find out why they are so against you getting a bike.
My dad wasn't too impressed when i went out and bought a bike but there was nothing much he could do, I was a little older than you.

I don't know what your parents are like but they could get very stubborn towards you if you just disregard their wishes.

Ask whoever is going to insure you whether they need an 'adult*' to sign your contract with you, and what payment they will take from you.

*yeah I know youre not a child but in the eyes of the law etc.

Second, for gods sake talk to your parents. Theyre not going against you for the sake of it, more likely because they are terrified something will happen to you on the bike. You may not be an idiot but there are plenty out driving on the roads. Please try to reassure them you will be responsible and as safe as you can be, and you may soften their attitude. Doing it anyway might cause them to pull even harder against you in this and other ways.

You have got a quote already, haven't you? Not just assuming it will be a couple of hundred euro

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.
