Picking up email from an old provider?

    Hi there,

    Wonder if someone can help. My dad has an old Esatclear email address that he had set up for his business but Esat have long since providing the service. He has used another web based service called www.mail2web.com to pick up his email. Over the last couple of weeks, this service has become very slow and in some cases doesnt start or allow him to log into his email.

    Can anyone suggest any ways he can set up a forwarding address or something to say Gmail so that he can use Gmail to access any old mail sent to his Esatclear.ie account.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Two options...

    1) Use the settings to access the email in Outlook / Outlook Express

    Pop3 Server - pop.esatclear.ie (default port)
    Smtp Server - mail.esatclear.ie (default port)

    2) Use Gmail (as you said) to retrieve the email into your mail account

    According to my fetchmail daemon, pop.esatclear.ie was unavailable between 9:40 UTC and 12:29 UTC today. That's probably why voodoo's dad was having problems accessing it via mail2web.

    I've been unable to access my email from this server today. I've been way too lazy to transfer to a new provider.

    I would guess thats its probably been down and probably not a high priority as they stopped adding users years ago. Surprised they haven't scrapped it by now. I stopped paying for this service circa mid-2000!!

    Came back yesterday evening. No mail lost so it seems.

    I spoke too soon, its gone again today.

    I get a vast amount of spam (at least 50+ per day) with this address, so I suspect disk space has probably run out. Especially if they are not deleting old accounts like mine :-)
