I used to have that bag before all my gear got stolen. (It was a while ago, so I have got some new stuff since then).

The bag is fine. There is room in the bottom section for the camera, another smallish lens or two (no space for say a 70-200mm 2.8 lens - waayy too big a lens), or maybe a flash. It is not particularly large, but fine for some gear. It is a bit of a hassle to open the camera compartment, as you need to set the bag down and unzip around the circumference of the bag and open the bag up like pacman's head.:)

The padding is pretty good, and the material seems fairly robust. The zips are not heavy duty, but they are strong enough for most users.

The upper section is very small unless you are only taking a small bottle of water, maybe a guide book and a small lunch, and even that is tight. For anything else the upper compartment is very cramped.

The bag does not stand up straight when place on the ground, and will fall onto its back unless supported. This is not really a problem, but something to be aware of.

All in all a neat sized backpack and a pretty good price. However, maybe you could take a look and see that you can carry everthing you need, especially the top section.

    Regards,

    Smokey

I've got the Orion Trekker 1, my gf has the Orion Trekker 2. Brilliant bags. Really comfortable and decpetively big! In the camera compartment I can easily fit my d200 body with sigma 18-50 lens attatched, 10.5 fisheye, sigma 50-150 lens, sb-80flash and still have enough space for another lens (sometimes even my HUGE Sigma 15-30 but that makes things a tight squeeze and heavy!). If I don't pack the 15-30 I have enough space to either squeeze in my battery grip (off camera) or my pocket wizard radio slaves and cables and a mini tripod.

Up top in the main section there is mroe room than you could imagine. I can fit a 2 litre bottle of coke lying flat across the bottom of the non-camera section with space for a t shirt, hoody and other bits and pieces. It's my travelling bag when I go away riding my bike, so everything HAS to fit into it and it does the job well of carrying cameras, bike tools, clothes, food and drinks really well. Even when its fully loaded its so well padded and comfortable it doesn't get uncomfortable (on me at least). I've had mine 4.5 years and its still great. One thing I would advise is to remove the padded base in the camera section and to put a plastic bag down there and put the padding back in, makes it semi waterproof (especially when cycling in the rain and water splashes up from the back wheel onto the bag).

It's also a great bag for sneaking beer into pubs and clubs (not that I'd ever do that of course;). Cans fit perfectly ito the camera section and you can open the top section to reveal an "empty" bag if it gets inspected.

I got mine in Gunnes on Wexford Street, for €64 I think, which was about €12-€15 cheaper than the Lowe Alpine store that used to be in temple bar was selling them for.

I think LowePro do a slightly larger style bag with the same design called a Rover (????) that has a larger top section if thats what you might need.

Orion Trekker 1 & 2 thoroughly recommended. My gf would say the exact same about her irion Trekker 2 as I have said about mine.

Here is a link to the lowepro Rover which is waterproof as well. http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Backpacks/allWeather/Rover_AW_II.aspx
