Hey, not sure if this is the right place for this but i have a problem with my broadband.....

I have NTL broadband over a year now and i admit ive never had any problems until about 3 months ago.i have a wireless connection with a netgear router they supplied.everytime i turn on my laptop it starts up and picks up my network and says connected in the bottom right-hand corner with the ip address of 192.168.1.2, but when i open up IE or firefox im getting nothing in return.Basically i have to power off the router for about 20 seconds everytime and then it will connect no problem.Obviously i dont want to be doing that everytime i was wondering if anyone here has any advice or tips on why this is happening and is there anything i can do to fix it???thanks.

I had exactly the same problem with a Belkin router of mine. The laptop would connect to the wireless network, receive IP address etc. and look absolutely fine - but no web pages.

Took me ages to find the reason and I thought I was going mad. In the end you know what it was? The router didn't like setting on top of my Xbox (original) with it's modded fluorescent light.

Moved the router, all sorted. Moral of the story - wireless networking is a pain in the ass because so many things can affect it.

Now that i think of it, my router is placed behind our television in the living room, that is where the NTL engineer put it as it is plugged into the NTL modem too. I dont think the cable is long enough for me to move it sufficiently:D
