Does anyone know what the story with this David Lynch thing is?

"Director David Lynch and singer-songwriter Donovan are touring with a
presentation to be staged in Dublin on October 20th, at the Edmund
Burke Theatre in Trinity College, in association with Trinity's School
of Drama, Film and Music. On the following afternoon, they will
present the show at Elmwood Hall in Belfast, as part of the Belfast
    Festival at Queen's.

Lynch will talk about his movies and his book, Catching the Big Fish:
Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity. Donovan will perform hits
featured on his recently- recorded concert DVD, Donovan Live in LA."

How does one get tickets/admission to this?

The tickets sold out too fast, unfortunately. There were tickets for a live feed in the next lecture theatre, which were also gone within ten minutes! But my friend [the real David Lynch fan, a film student] managed to sneak in and got to meet him.

I was in the overflow hall and the whole front row was empty and the rest of the front few rows were far from full. Plus after the thing started there was nobody really guarding doors or checking tickets, could have easily sneaked in.

As for the talk itself Lynch was obviously very interesting but the questions asked were rubbish(imo) for the most part and did not really interest me.

As I said in another thread, the same question "if your so happy why are your films so dark" was basically asked three times and some fellas question was "so meditation, its all about thought isnt it"

Very few questions about his specific films or his style of filmmaking which was massively disapointed but overall I am very gald I seen him:)

Did Donovan play or talk much?

They should have charged a nominal fee, maybe money going to charity. I expect many people just got tickets since they were free, and were 50/50 about going, especially on a saturday.

Yeah your right ruprect some sort of fee wouldnt have been bad if you really wanted to go.

As for Donovan I stayed for the first few songs. Never really heard him before and I didnt knwo who he was but by god he could get some sound out of that guitar. Like I said in another thread he is stuck in a timewarp and I am not really surprised he has fallen in popularity, but he is an immensely talented musician.

Only reason I left was because I was pressed for time and I was in the overflow room so I was only watching on a sceen anyway.
