If you put in a reasonable amount of work you'll find the maths content is very manageable and if you're any way good at maths you should find it a stroll.

If you don't put the work in, and most people don't, then you probably will find it difficult.

Even if maths is not your thing and you just want to avoid it you can still get through computer applications because regardless of how difficult you find it there isn't a huge amount of it and you can scrape a pass in the maths modules with some hardcore pre-exam cramming.

    well i dunno yet

my school has contacted dcu and ill know tomorrow if i can join now

    when did u start?
    too late to start?

is the maths the only hard part , obviously it all depeneds on effort put in , but maths is goin to be hard for some people anyway

cos i suck at maths , but if i can see it as useful i can learn it as it seems to be a short part of each semester anyway

I think I am right in saying that Maths gets the biggest failure rate in CA1
Is it hard, it depends, for you it probably will but it's doable. Just attend tutorials go to maths learning centre and do as many past papers and examples as you can and you should be ok. Ignore the lecturer, he is a joke.

with effort is it possible ?

like i suck at maths , but if i see it being useful and i need it i will put sufficient work in

is it dificult to comphrehend ?

    cheerss for the replies

you could always just drop out of ucd now, get a job and apply next year to dcu and won't have to pay fees, we are in our 4th week in dcu, so i don't know how much u've missed exactly - i'd say all of robot world anyhow... how much u done robdcu?

not doin CA - doing FM - but we did computer programming in first year... advice - make sure you UNDERSTAND whats going on in the labs, and don't let you "partner" do all the work(which i did) - i got 70% in the christmas test in charlie daly's class but failed second semester(only 25%, but i knew one or two others in my class who did way worse(i got more than the two of them put together)), but if you put your head down, like i did in the summer when repeating its acutally not that bad - if you have a laptop, i'd advise that you get it on your computer....

    no joy

i have to re aplly next year and have to pay anywhere between 2-3 thousand for first year

so i wont be doin that , unless i utterly **** up in arts , which i hope not to be doing

just goin to have to keep it as a hobby and not a job , good luck all in this course

Hi Conor, you can do a major in Computer Science through Arts in UCD! Are you taking CS as a subject this year? Or even Intro To Programming.. if you are, you should be able to to a major/minor or a single major BA in CompSci..

I applied to the denominated BA CompSci programme, so i'm not technically arts, but it's an arts subject..

Decided CA wasn't for me :D
    (looking back, probably in error!)
