I've seen a lot of people abusing DP lately. Do people do anything about this like take the hand history number and report the players? Does iPoker or the skin you are with bother with follow ups? Just wondering cause they're beginning to annoy me.

Are you sure people are abusing it, if so report them
If it continues to bother you, play on tables that dont allow it

I play 10k hands a week on ipoker and i never seen a player take advantage of it twice or more and im playing there a few months now. Id need to see 3+ obvious ones for it to bother me as it could just be coincidental or a bad connection

How do you do this, just disconnect your connection in a middle of a hand. Stupid question to some, but I honestly didnt realise it was that easy. Is it?? Happend to me 2 or 3 times but thats obviously over a lot of hands.

my connection has been quite dodgy for the last week or so here. its quite funny when some people go crazy about DP in a $8 pot. Last night I disconnected with the 2nd nut house on the river when id been checkraised. Obviously I was never folding but when I got back on the guy went nuts accusing me of using DP to cheat. That got a good el oh el out of me.

I've never seen my account have more then one DP but then my carrier thinks its good tech to refresh my IP every 15 minutes or so it seems.

Anyway, some people may not appreciate the way DP works in coming back when its used.

If its used, it comes back after a set time. If its used again within a short space of time, the length of time it takes to come extends. And again and again, so if it is being abused it wont be abused regularly or for long.

If you spot people abusing it, report them to us and we'll take it to iPoker.

    DeV.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the disconnection protection rules on the iPoker network please. As far as I can tell you no longer have to actually experience a disconnection to avail of a disconnection protection. I have recently just failed to act in time on a table and found myself with a disconnection protection and I've seen it with others.

It's a ridiculous situation for a poker site when you have what I had today with another player apologising profusely to me for getting a disconnection protection when he merely failed to act in time and cost me what's a days wages to some people.

When and why did iPoker decide that not acting in time was a disconnection? I presume I am right that this is the case, because last month I was the guy apologising to someone else.

no if you don't act in time it is just a fold. But the connection is sometimes so laggy that you get disconnected, but reconnect without having to log in again.

So recently when I was on 4 tables and did not act in time on one of them getting disconnection protection it was just a coincidence of timing that I experienced a momentary disconnect exactly as my time ran out and reconnected immediately not affecting any other table?

It's certainly possible but I've seen it from other players too and I am suspicious that fleeting momentary disconnects should coincide exactly with running out of clock time unless it is a hell of a lot more laggy than I thought.

Unfortunately I don't well understand the issue of connectivity, and as a guy who played exclusively on Stars for years when I started disconnection meant proper disconnection, the existence of the extra time bank was always a buffer to any issue of fleeting disconnects.

If you time out it sometimes considers it as a disconnect and awards you DB.... this definately has happened to me.... got abused one day for DB on a turbo table when I timed out with TP and got DB... dont know what his issue was as I was always ahead.... if anything it saved him money...

Feel free to report it to your skin .... they will pass it on to i-poker and they have a response already prepared for it... alternatively just ask me and I'll send you the letter and it will save you all the hassle!

what happens is something like this timeline:

0 sec) your turn to act on table 1.
5 sec) 5 seconds later, your turn to act on tables 2 3 and 4.
6 sec) now you get disconnected for about 5 seconds
10 sec) you time out on table 1
    11 sec) you get reconnected
13 sec) you act on tables 2 3 and 4 just in time

if you get frequent momentary disconnects (and you probably do with ipoker) then some of them will unquestionably be just when it is your turn to act.
