Having looked at the site some more it seems very well designed and easy to navigate. And then there's the stock - strongman equipment and kettlebells from an Irish shop? I never thought I'd see the day :)

The plates for 1 euro a kg are exceptional value.

Really glad to see this up and running at long last.

    A g'em for information too ;)

Just looking through the site there and see the equipment that I bought off Mickk in recent times. I'm extremely happy with it..weights, power rack and bench.

Very good prices I must say.

im confused, for the dumbells(Small Rubber Hex Set) it says ''3.50euro''.is this the price for shipping or per dumbell?as it also says '2-10kg set (+€195.00)'.Mickk could you elaborate??thanks!

Meh, it's a high maintenance product, needs very regular exercise and eats a surprisingly large amount for it's size. Can't leave it alone for too long either or it'll get very lonely. Does come fully house-trained though and a very loyal and rewarding companion! :D

Great site. Shame I dont really need any plates- a steal at that price- and they are the easy carry ones- you could almost use them like kettlebells.

    A few small points.
There is no address or contact phone number (that I could find). I know you are fine & above board but many guides warn against buying online always say there should be a road address and phone number- perhaps your normal shop or gym- otherwise it might put off people who have never heard of you.

Postage- some other sites selling powders have great postage calculators- you can add and subtract powders and see the savings you would have on postage. You have a few mentions like free post above €100, but there is no indication otherwise. I would have to go through the entire registration process just to find out the postage costs. (worst is US sites, takes 15mins to register only to find they only ship to the US!)

EDIT: I saw now in equipment it says €7 up to 30kg, so I presume this is the same for all stuff(?)- decent price.

Some sites have weights of tubs listed, i.e. postal weights including plastic, then they will have different costs up to certain weights- so you can work it out yourself- or just guess the weights.

Can the plates be picked up in your shop or gym for the same price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,027 ✭✭✭flywheel

hi, any chance of stocking these (microloading weights):
    http://www.theplatemate.com/products.htm

or does anyone know where in the country that has them?

    looks like €3.50 per kilo so a 2kg is €7, or a 10kg is €35. Shipping is extra. 2-10, is 2 of each of the dumbells 2kg, 3kg, 4kg, 6kg, 8kg and 10kg.

Really good price on Optimum ...

But other stuff is not so well valued
Krealkalyn 1500 can be bought duirectly from Olimp for 23,50 at olimpshop.com vs 29,99 at irish-lifting.com
The same with BCAA 750 - OLIMP price 12,60 vs 14,99
    Anabolic Amino - 14,90 vs 17,99

will you do promotions on other stuff? As i.e with Olimp both Jon & OlimpShop.com got cheaper prices

Do you think Pudzianowski would use lowest market price stuff?

personally I would prefer to add few quids to receive higher quality. When I choose supplements for me (mostly weight gainers) I look first at nutrition information - the price comes second. Of course I would prefer to pay 20E for top quality stuff but you need to be realistic - noone would sell high quality products for the price of few pints of Guinesss :)

I'd second this Mickk, as a former freelance web-designer it's really the only problem I can find with what is otherwise a very nice site!

how do you tell the form you want 2 x 20 kg std plates

looking at the kettle bells it says

work out the total kg of the order and put it in the quantity box. Then in the comments box of the checkout specify which dumbells you want in order to make up the total kgs..

I presume it is the same, -put it in the comments box.

Mickk- there seems to be some problem with the calculators- a 55kg set of weights is €14 for post, but 1x 20kg 1inch plate is is €42 for delivery. Site says €7 up to 30kg. Might be some calculator error.

Ha looking at your post history tells a tale...
Really bad idea mate, your only product is olimp!
If I drop my prices on olimp right down to wholesale I still make money on the other stuff I sell where as you either match the prices and work for free or go out of business?

    Hahah great reply.

Dublinek is quite obviously a complete douche who's only concerned about promoting his own business. Any reputable and decent person wouldn't do this by attempting to dis-credit his competitors in a public forum.

anyway on topic, nice work mickk. Now I just have to find out how I am going to hide all the stuff I have ordered from my girlfriend, especially the bill.

hi Mickk- I was asking earlier if these items are available from your shop or gym for the same price? I also imagine potential buyers might like to come to the gym/shop to see/use the stuff first hand- something to set you apart from other online sellers.

Also the equipment and supps seem to have different pricing for postage and are not combined. e.g. It read like it should be €7 delivery up to 30kg. Yet the 2 categories are separated on the order page. So if I order a small pack of supps, and a single 1.25kg plate I am charged €14 for post- €7 for the min order supps, €7 for the min order weights- where really I would expect to get up to 30kg in a combination of weights & supps for €7.

I was really hoping to get the free postage at €100 by getting 2 wheys and the remaining €100 in weights. But I realize the supps cost more per weight than equpiment so that is not really fair on you- hence why it is €100 limit on supps, and €500 on equipment.

yup i ordered 40kg of plates and 70€ of supplements

it charged me €14 which is fine but it charged 7 for weights and 7 for supps

which as rubby said is strange

hehehehehehehehehehehe I got my delivery today:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

    1.JPG

    2.JPG

on top of the above I got one of the door frame pull up bars as well.

so 170kg in plates ,a 5 foot oly bar, oly dumbell handles (actually I got those from mickk last month), a 32kg and 24kg kettlebell, doorway pull bar, 2 tubs of RAM and a tub of ON double choc protein.

So all in all I am a very happy camper and as per usual excellent service (how good a service you might ask, well I have linked in my sig)

p.s. go the delivery route as oppose to picking it up at the shop it is worth it just to see the hummer.

p.p.s. anybody any ideas where I could hide so much stuff from my girlfriend

The shop is completely seperate to this business unfortunately.
I can bring equipment into the gym if people would like to collect but I can't bring in supplements. Also all the stuff is flat pack so seeing it really doesn't do anyone anygood... If I were to set up a showroom for the 300+ pieces of equipment I sell, trust me everything would be alot more expensive.

With reguards the shipping I'm sorry if it wasn't as clear as it could have been, its free shipping on an equipment order of 500 euros or more or free shipping on a supplements orders of over 100 euros.
If someone orders 100 euros of supplements and then 450kg of plates it can't be reasonable for me to pay 50 euro for a full pallet to deliver them, as you have hopefully noticed I have cut the prices right down to the wire a good bit lower than anyone else on most things. Unfortunately the automated shipping wont account for every situation, the one you mectioned being the worst possible case senario but I couldn't imagine it happening very often.
With your specific order I will send two boxes as the total weight is 50kg so it will cost me 14 euro.

What I could do if people wanted was put 3 euro on every supplement and then have free shipping on all supplements but then people who are spending more lose out, the way it is now only those who do large orders effectively get a further discount in the form of free delivery.

Sorry for the confusion I will try and make it a bit clearer.
    Thanks
    Mick
