Hoping someone can help me out here. I have a XP MCE 2005 PC. The CPU is a Core2Duo. I understand that these are 64 bit processors. I also have 2G RAM installed.

    My question is:
What is the max amount of RAM that can be used with XP MCE 2005.

    Thanks in advance.

Neither XP Pro or MCE2005 are a 64 Bit OS. Of course they run on 64bit hardware, but they are 32bit architecture.

4Gb is the max you can use for any of the above OS.

Id be interested to see what you are running to need more than 2GB. Gaming?

Mostly ripping my entire DVD collection onto hard disk. It wasn't too expensive for the 2M ~EUR70 so why not...

    I'm also crap at gaming...

Well to be honest, you're wasting your money. But it is your money after all :)

Exceeding 2GB of memory is a waste of money and you will achieve little or no performance gain in from doing so. When you exceed 2GB RAM in the PC, the 32bit Windows OS (NT/2000/XP/2003 etc) splits the memory space in two. Any applications you use will only use the first 2GB of RAM, the operating system will use the remainder.

I have MCE2005 running on a P4, 1.7 with 512megs of Ram, its works fine, I use it to burn DVD's and record, Ideally I would like a quicker machine but if its not broke.........
