    Hey guys,

Bit of a strange one, I've been watching a lot of WWII documentaries, halocaust stuff and was considering taking a trip over to Auschwitz. Has anyone ever been?. Is it worth taking a trip over to it?.

Its close enough to Krakow so I hear and Krakow is supposed to be a great place for a weekend break so I was thinking of heading out to Auschwitz while I was there....

    Cheers for any insight...

There's another thread on Krakow somewhere.

Auschwitz (and it's sister camp Birkenau) is well worth a visit as part of a break in Krakow. I wouldn't base my whole trip around it, mind you. It has quite a depressing effect, seeing the place and knowing the inhumanity of it all.

Everyone should be made to go there (as a tourist, that is).

    Hi Feelgood,

Yeah have a dig though this travel forum, as mike says, there was a thread a while ago. From what people have said it is a very depressing place, but I, like you have thought about going there just because of the significance of the place.

Just hope these isn't any touristy things too close (example - Ground Zero??), that would make me sick
