On another Pc I am using Norton 2007 with Windows xp media centre edition. It regularly updates and then you have to reboot, but this time when i started up windows i had a new login screen and i am unable to put my password in and log into windows.
I'm kind of stuck. Not too clever when it comes to computers so any help people can give me would be great.

Wouldn't (entirely) blame Norton for this. Are you entering your password with cap locks on by any chance?

nope. its as if the keyboard is broken but its not. Thats not the bit i'm worried about. I've read some reports of Noton sending some bad updates and I just figured it may have been that. What else could be the reason if it's not?

Have you tried booting up into your administrator account on safe mode? (Turn the power on and key F8 several times as it boots up)

Maybe its lost focus. Can you click in the text box or alt+tab to it. I recommend a different AV myself. I don't rate Norton at all. More hassle than its worth.
