You can't go wrong with that, the powershots are a great range of cameras. There's a good manual mode aswell which most other cameras that price won't have.

Powershots are really good cameras (speaking as a Nikon user ;) )

Many advanced features (and of course the Auto mode for those snaps!)

    hi!
any Canon Powershots are definitaly the best pocket cameras on the market, so you will make no mistake with any of them. It was my first digital (2mpx, I don't remember model) to shoot in 2002. Now beside my pro Nikon D100 single lens reflex I have a small Ixus 850 IS and I am very very satisfied with it! It cost me 250€ on eBay.

Hi, I ended up getting the Canon Power Shot ixus sd750
    I got 2 x 1mb cards and rechargable lithium ion battery and a spare,case,
It was a better price at 224dollars and .45 dollars for the sd cards
All in all it is a very good camera. At the moment I had Kodak ls443 which I found fairly good as well...

I have just bought a Canon Powershot G9 from Komplett. Should have it next week , some time.

I have a sony cybershot, it was good, but after reading about the powershot G9 i reckoned it was the one to get.

Why did i get the Poershot G9
    1) -- I liked the reviews.
    2) -- I put all my photos into my web site and i am really getting into this digital life way.
    3) -- I have a mac. working with photos on this computer is such a treat. I also get apple to make calendars and books and i reckon the G9 would give me better photos. Although i probably will not have any fecking books or calendars to make for a while, but i will again some day.
    4) -- I did the Camino De Santiago ( to long to explain) this year and i looked at my photos And after reading reviews about the G9 i said to myself that if i ever have a great adventure holiday like this again i will want a fantastic camera.
    5) -- i had the money to spare.

The G9 cost me €522 on the site komplett. that includes a camera bag €22 and postage €12. The G9 was something like €630 on the canon web site.
I know that to an average Joe or Jane Soap a camera for around the €300 is good enough ( i am a Joe Soap). But i had this money to spare and i was thinking of an adventure holiday again.

The G9 looks a fantastic camera. The most important thing as well is a spare rechargable battery. I bought mine in the U.S and to say it is cheaper in the US is an understatement. I looked at the g9 there and was priced at
585dollars about about 420euros maybe, the spare batteries were only 18 dollars if you don't buy the expensive ones. This model had 2 x 2gb sd cards and bag as well. A big saving to be made if you were going to the U.S.
But still at 520 euro you did very well as this is a class camera.
I am a Joe Soap as welland I am upgrading from a Kodak ls443, which at the time I bought it was a decent camera, but it's definately not the best and really only good for standard photos without having to zoom and take on the move shots.
I am now jealous of your camera and look forward to upgrading again, this time maybe G9
Hope everything goes well for the G9 and enjoy it.

A good review site for your camera is

And this is the U.S. site where I bought mine.

i have the G7 which in many respects is the same as the G9, taken on its own this series is pretty good, the styling and ergonomics are great,
the G9 has RAW reintroduced after leaving out of the G7 which is a great benefit because you can achieve better results from RAW capture, it has a very good movie feature on it and is exceptionally good at macro. It has all the creative controls found on a DSLR and can be placed in full auto mode. All in all an extremely capable camera with very usable IQ, i dont think theres a simialr compact on the market that would equal it.

Having said that however, I'm disappointed that Canon got on the pixel bandwagon and crammed more onto the same size sensor, ISO levels are all but usless after 400. On the G7 red eye is almost guarenteed with the flash, still it's a minor inconvenience but maybe has been addressed in the G9. The previous Powershots had a viewing screen that could be swung out at different angles (good for over the heads shots at events) I don't know why they stopped including it.

I'm happy enough with my G7 but i suppose it's hard to be subjective about it when you also pixel peep as much as me and own DSLR as well.

The screen info is very good on this range and you'll find it's easy to learn more and more about photography with the feedback and info thats included on the screen.
good luck with it and have funn :)
