I'm from the North and constantly amazed by some of the stories posted here regarding Irish traders.

    Clocked cars
    Write-offs
Overcharging on 2nd hand cars - poor backup.
(Incident posted above http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055164322 - dealer acting aggresively after purchase - due to his mistake.)

If I sold a car that had been written off/clocked - no doubt punter would have me before the courts claiming a full refund. Trading standards would have a field day with a fine and massive publicity.
As you know a dealer group in the north charged for parts they didnt fit and got a £2000 fine and it was on BBC , UTV 6pm news bulletins +Govt website.

Simply , why do the Irish public put up with this?

As Irish motorists, we're just used to being victimised:D:D

I had a car from the North that I bought with 90k miles that had FSH but was very troublesome. My mechanic told me 'It drives like a car with far more miles on it than is on the clock'.
