    It's all hand painted apparently.

I like it. The oddness of the paint takes away some of the oddness of the body shape. :)

    Which is BLASPHEMY!!!

The Fly shape should be the greatest oddness!

How about, "Karl Hungus plays checkerboard Fly for Cheap Trick".....picking out the greatest oddness there could be a rough chore! :p

I'm one of the few people who really loves the Fly, but it's still a shock to the eyes whenever I see one.

Wouldn't be anything odd about me playing a Fly, I really do like them, and nearly bought one myself not so long ago. ;)

If I could afford anything more than a white&gold Epi LP for my next guitar, I'd have one too. :D

Edit: Although, poking around on Musician's Friend, I see that they're now selling Variax 300's for a mere $299.00....I just might have to buy one 'to see'!

Ah god no! Awful playing guitars, really, just crud. That's why so many people are just buying them and transplanting the electronics into a whole new guitar.

Try save up and get a nice Parker second hand.

Tried one out in the store... doesn't play like my Schecter, but it's certainly playable.

Now the bass, on the other hand, I've heard really good things about.

yes i'll have that. i've a soft spot for the auld 2Tone
also i like the one pickup and one knob thing.

i think the Fly looks the sh*t, went looking to buy one a few years ago and found out it looks way better than it feels(way to light)

really glad i didn't get one now, not a great Axe but i still think it looks pretty smart.

yeah i heard they weigh about 2kg...crazy stuff.

    They (Flys) play great. ;)

Thats a cool paint job but that is one ugly, wierd for the sake of it, guitar!

Reminds me of those horrible guitars in the 80's without headstocks and korg midi jobs!

    UUUUgh!

Does he not play Hamers anymore?

It's weird for the engineering of it. It weighs next to nothing, and those in the know (e.g., Johnny Storm) claim it plays like a combination of butter and lightning.

Having gigged with a Steinberger bass in the 90's, I can tell you that it's one of the best-playing and best-sounding (despite the lack of body mass) basses I have ever played.
No one around me ever said anything negative about the looks, either.
Of course, that could just be because I'm Rustar. :D

I've played both Parker and Steinberger guitars, and the Parker was just so much better, they're incomparible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,789 ✭✭✭slavetothegrind

Can't and won't knock the playability or sound from either,

guess you have to be Rustar to get away with the looks though:D

For me the best sounding bass i ever played was a musicman through an Ampeg SVT 2 stack. MMMMMMMM! Can still feel it!:)
The musicman is clearly lead filled in the centre and will redefine your posture.

of course it wasn't mine, and my 50watt peavy was heartbreakingly poor after that experience, never mind the cheap ass bass i had!

I love the look of the Fly myself. Just really unique. There's not enough guitars out there that really do their own thing stylistically, and there's a vast amount that are just basic strat shaped ones.

Yeah, those music man basses are absolutely incredible. Used to know a guy who had one, and it was just gorgeous.

I bought a Parker and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Absolutle sh1te. It wasn't a Fly now, it was one of the lower grade ones and I would only recommend it to one of my enemies!

I'd imagine the high end Parkers are great but the lower end stuff really sucks.

I'd love to play a Steinberger.
