epstein-barr virus tests

    Hi,

Can anybody tell me whether the physical symptoms of glandular fever plus a positive Epstein Barr Virus VCA IgG blood test with low avidity means that the person definitely has glandular fever? Are there any other Epstein Barr virus blood tests that also need to be positive to confirm the diagnosis, or that rule out the diagnosis despite the positive test mentioned above?

Also can the virus be caught other than sharing cooking utensils or kissing? Could it be airborne, or how long would it survive on cooking utensils e.g hours or days after an infected person had used them?

Thanks for any info. Have tried looking on the Internet but can't get reliable non contradictory information.
