My insurance is up at the start of November so today I got a couple of quotes.I'm 28, 5 years no claims, full license with no accidents, convictions or points driving a Deauville (05).I have been with Aon for 5/6 years.

Aon wanted 609 TP,because I am on my wifes car policy she dropped this to 438.

Quinn gave me these prices,727 fully comp,491 TPFT and 385 TP.

I think I am going to go with the TP only,my question is would it be worth the hassle to change over to Quinn for the sake of 60 odd euro...?Quinn are a lot cheaper if you take away the discount for me been on a car policy as this is taken 30% of the Aon price.

    So what would you do...?

well i moved to quinn from aon coz they're much cheaper for young drivers atm. not had to claim off either party so i dunno if there's much difference.

Its not the price I am worried about as there is only 60 euro difference,I don't know if its worth the hassle of changing also I hear Quinn are cnuts to deal with.

I don't know about their bike dept. but as regards cars, I've found them to be absolutely brilliant-versatile and responsive.

Inevitably, in that business, you'll get some officious little twat trying to be a good company girl/ boy treating the customer like their only getting in the way but they're few and far between so if you have hassle- ring back and speak to someone else.

Not just young drivers, I'm doing my Insurance too now, 40yr old, max NCB. Quotes from the three companies available, all fully comp quotes, were ~950, 1050 and 570.

570? Talk about "quote me happy", Quinn offered basically half the price of the other two. Couldn't believe the difference. The other two need to start getting a bit more competitive now

I'd spend the extra hundred quid and get Fire & Theft cover. You'll kick yourself if you need it and don't have it and a 05 Deau would be costly enough to replace.

Check for compulsory excess payments if you have to claim - this could easily outweigh any saving you might originally make. I recall hearing some years ago that Quinn had these for car insurance.

They have it with their comprehensive insurance.

I've always found them fine to deal with. Although I was with AXA before them and they were a right pack of cnuts, so my standards are probably lower than most people at this stage.

The plus I can see of going with QD is that you'd keep your NCB. If you go as a named driver on your wife's policy for a few years, then your NCB will expire.

I will keep my NCB,Aon are giving me a 30% discount because I am insured on my wifes car it has nothing to do with the bike policy which I have built up to 5 years NCB.I think they way Aon are looking at this is if you are also insured on a car you will drive the bike less which is less of a risk for them.

I have 40% discount with aon because I have cage insurance with Axa, combined with 30% RoSPA, 4 years NCB, I took the luxury of turning down quinn's quote this year. Mainly also because AON ad CN allow multiple bikes whereas quinn don't.

Whats the story with multiple bikes and Aon...?I have been thinking about getting another bike just as a run around.

They charge a flat fee for every additional bike of around €50 each when I checked last year up to a maximum of 4 bikes provided the bikes are in the same or lower group than the main insured bike. A quick call to them will confirm current rates.

I asked QD about this 2 months ago, and they said it only applies to cars and not bikes. Has this changed recently?

Apologies. I got the car policies and motorbike policies mixed up.

I'd say go for it, used to swap between Hibernian & Carol Nash before to save a few € each time & keep them honest. Am with AON at the moment but will be checking out Quinn for renewal next year.

Have had my car insurance with them for years with no problems but thankfully haven't had any reason to call on their services.

No worries, just wanted to make sure I didn't fork out for AA cover unnecessarily!
