Don't forget to do plenty of pushups and situps. Saw a lad fair the fitness test because he couldn't do them. He was easily able to manage the running part.

aim to do about 40+ push ups and sit ups, do the run sub 10 min( the test is 2miles once your in!!), and dont just get yourself fit for the run to get in!! get yourself running four and five miles it will help trust me, get the push ups and sit ups up as high as you can before you go in trust me!!

some say yes some say no, i didnt i was told where i was going i had no choice, others might have an option of 2 or 3 units but ive never heard of anyone having a complete free choice of where they want to go

It depends on where you are training about ten years ago they were training in the CTD (Command Training Depots) and then dispersed amongst the various units, ( Cav,Regiment and Inf BN's).

When I joined it was a choice of the 2 FAR, 2 Inf BN or the 27th BN.

Doing Swedish PT or Fartlek is good to build up if your not used to running it is a combination of running and walking and slowly introducing longer distances to run and less to walk.

With Push Ups and Sit Ups again if your not good at them start doing reps of 10 for a week, then 15 the next and so on until you are doing a min of the req 20 easily.

the MINMUM is 20, you should aim for 40 of each, when it comes down to choosing your test scores may get you in ahead of someone else

When I was doing my Fitness Test, everyone was stopped the minute they hit the 20 mark.

is it hard 2 get in 2 the cav as i would like to or is it just the luck of the draw

From what I've head from friends that went through Recruit Training, they said it's usually the lads at the top of the class that go to 2 Cav. It probably depends on the intake you go in on.

It depends on what the requirement is at the time, if they need bodies there so be it, We "allegedy"Cant spell had a choice of 3 units.

My preference was the 2nd bn, 27th, then the 2 FAR I got the second as they simply needed bodies

No I meant, the minute we reached 20 we were told to stop by the people administering the Test.

I see what you mean though, people should definitely be aiming for more than the bare minimum for when they go into training.
