Probe came across the Venturi Fetish sports car on his travels today - one of the first production models.
The driver very kindly showed the vehicle off to the camera...

I had another chunkier video file to upload - but googlepages didn't like the file size :-(

(these files play in RealPlayer, QuickTime Player, and VLC Media Player)

It's a bit like the Le Mans winner of 2006 - there's no 'soundtrack' to go with it, so you'll need a proper stereo!

When everyone starts driving electric vehicles (battery or fuel cell), we will enjoy nice quiet streets. Perhaps the most noticeable benefit of the technology!

Actually, they'll probably have to add some artificial noise to help blind people avoid being run over :)

There is enough of a "whizz" sound out of them to get the attention of a visually impaired person.

I was walking along with a letter in my hand on Saturday morning on my way to a postbox - and a postman on his delivery rounds in his electric van politely stopped and offered to take the letter off me. (In an urban "jungle" with 10 to 30 story skyscrapers all around - not in a remote rural area). (Most of continental Europe has mail deliveries on Saturdays). They are so easy to drive and stop - no gears - they are ideal for stop-go work.

Plumbers, electricians, delivery services and similar love electric vans because they can park them free on the street while calling on a client.
