Getting jobs involving Travel

    Hi,

I've been looking to get a job (preferably in I.T.) where I can do some travelling - but I can't seem to come up with any jobs as most of my searches are from multi-lingual companies, and I only have some German.

Any ideas where I could look for these jobs??

    Thanks a mill :)

    Good luck :)

The only option I can think of is to get a job in Ireland where you can work from home, with home being anywhere in the world.

A friend of mine is a Java contractor, and he currently lives in Russia. Previously he lived in Holland. The job is in Dublin...

Depends on what you want from travelling to be honest.

I know of an I.T. trainer with Ericsson who travels all over the world. The only problem is that he spends most of his time in airports and training at companies he's been contracted to; so there's almost no time to go off seeing the sights.

If you want to go travelling properly though, I think the only option is through contracting like DublinDude suggested.

My housemate used to be a trainer for Ericsson too, and he got sick of the travelling, especially to random places in Africa and Asia.

I s'pose I dunno what I want from it yet, just wondering what options are open for me or where I can research it more :)

I work for that telco, I dont know about the training guys but we have a lot of guys contracting here and most have been around the globe and then some. IT contracting is great work for seeing the world!

Ditto, work for that telco too and my job involves up to 70% travel but from what I've seen thus far it's to Africa with some east europe travel tho spec said EMEA travel.

    I'm not a trainer/consultant :)

Sounds pretty good advice, thanks :)

Pity is I don't think I'm experienced enough to take up I.T. contracts :(

Lots of industry experience in one particular area! For example, if you've worked with Oracle for several years and you know it inside out, you'll be able to get contracting work doing that.

Worked as an implementation engineer installing systems all over the world.
The travel actually got to be a downside of the job as i'd be away 3 weeks out of 4 making keeping a relationship pretty impossible. As another poster said, you'll see the airport the hotel and the place you're workling....that's it.
I was in Cairo 3 times and never saw the pyramids for instance.

Only real perk i found was the frequent flyer points meant that i never had to pay for flights for a holiday but Aer lingus seem to have done away with these now as no business class on any non US flights.
