As it says on the tin, Explorer crashes when looking though specific folders, mainly ones with video but only when these folders are in thumbnail view?

To me, its something to do with the icon causing it to crash but how do I stop it?

those thumbs can be quite labour intensive to load. I would have a look at the performance in the task manager when you look through these folders and see how busy CPU and memory is.

Also I'd check out the event viewer to see if there are any signs of what happened in there.

This is often a problem with downloaded videos. As far as I can see its something to do with a codec problem with windows, as I would immagine that if windows media player doesn't have the codec for the video your explorer can't create a thumbnail for it. Seems the only answer to me but I could be totally wrong (and usually am!)
