I want to buy This Lens from www.digitalrev.com - but I am wondering what the chances are of it getting stopped by customs and me having to pay taxes.

Has anyone here ordered from them, and did you have to pay taxes? If so, how much?
    Thanks

Yeah I have bought from them on the rare occasion that I could not source something from Kea. Very happy with them, never stuck for tax, good speedy delivery, pretty much just like Kea tbh, but without the great Albert!

Bought twice from DigitalRev and both times caught for VAT.

    Reliable seller though.

Bought, or should I say tried to buy my 300mm 2.8 from them via ebay only to find out they didn't have them in stock, and wouldn't guarantee when they would have them. Lost €250 on the currency exchange when they refunded me.

Who are Kea? URL? Are they better than Digital Rev?

Anyone know the cheapest place in Europe to get a Sigma 28-70?

Had a bad experience with them too, would not advise using them at all.

Again, ordered two lenses, confirmed the sales, goods were not in stock, was no idea when they would be in stock from what I could gather from all the automated replies, couldn't get hold of a person to actually talk to to cancel my sale (Unless their sales people are complete muppets, and they weren't automated replies) I ended up just canceling it through the CC. Never got any reply.

I've never heard anyone say anything good about them.
By the way, as law abiding citizens, you should all make an effort to be tax compliant. :p

I bought my Sigma 10-20 and a Nikon SB-400 from a Scotland based seller called Kerso (Ian Kerr) and I can't recommend him highly enough :) If his ebay shop doesn't have something you want listed just ask and he can probably get it for you. Going to be a bit more expensive than the Hong Kongers but the package will be coming from the EU so there's no vat/duty due on it.
    shop address is http://stores.ebay.ie/FLASH-CAMERA
I got it from him rather than a Hong Konger because I needed it quick and didn't want any hassle.

I dont have the links handy at work, im sure anyone here can give you the link for Kea though... You should look at UR Galaxy as well, Hugo is great. Actually he would be my second choice after Kea, very good seller. Not as cheap as Kea but certainly very reliable.

    Found it:
    Kea Photo
    UR Galaxy
    Digital Rev

    So here are my options:

    Cheapest is:
    Digital Rev £131 + £33 = £164 = €236 (+ tax)
    Others are:
    Kea Photo £159 + £25 = £184
    UR Galaxy £154 + £43 = £197

These posts arnt old but not sure how mucht hey service has improved ? Their customer service got back to me immediatley and they seem to have it set up well.

Their package deals are WAY better than KEA.
also they offer gift wrapping, not sure how that goes down though with tax !

Yep one more for getting stopped by customs, still I saved over €100 of shop price over here so I was happy.

thanks for the link. Looking at some of his negative feedback, he's not shy about insulting his customers !

This any good to you (Ireland)?

Only think I bought from Digital Rev was a Fuji s5000 camera. It was €750 here at the time. Got it for €410 and paid €53 VAT/Duty/whatever. Very swift delivery.

I have to agree with Stephen. This guy is tremendous to deal with. Delivery in 2-3 days and the prices aren't that different from HK. I bought a Canon 50mm 1.4 Lens (delivered for €253 - is €494 in Ireland) and a 430EX Speedlite flash from him. Highly recommend.:)

    +1 Ian is great.
Royal mail sent my 580ex to Germany by mistake and he sorted it out without hassle.
He can be a bit slow to reply to emails but when you get him when he's at his PC he replys straight away.
