Hi I am not sure if this in the right place but I am looking for mosaic sets – I want to create a design feature in my garden. I have seen photos of some large designs but have no idea where to get these.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    IB

    Irishbird,
I would imagine that the items were bespoke, or someone mosaicked over a wooden or concrete form.

We helped to create the seats in this display at Bloom 2007, the mosaic was just a standard mosaic tile.

A carpenter or the likes of a kitchen maker could help. A picture framer could also create a frame or a joinery works.

If you don't need a frame why not tile just on a flat sheet of plywood and create a border in mosaic?

Meant to post sooner but I couldn't find the info for you....

Anyway, I have done some mosaic work for mounting on walls etc; You can easily design your own if you do a sketch of what you want, keeping it to simple shapes works well.. I have used broken tiles to create mosaics, however, it is possible to buy bags of mosaic tiles, they are known as Tessra. Tessra can work out quite expensive if the work is large and also if alot of colours are required. The site below also have a selection of design plans and kits.

This is the Italian/English website of tessra suppliers if you are interested send them an e-mail for info on irish stockists etc; : http://www.maimeri.it/Idea_EN/index.asp

If you want to frame your work, visit your local hardware/diy shop and ask for wood moldings. What you are looking for is a narrow L shaped piece of timber that will sit like a frame around the mosaic. (as far as I know this used for edging around a door frame its not expensive and is super for that finished look!

Hiya check out www.delphiglass.com I have bought moulds for my garden for mosaic's and even made my own house number. I use leftover glass for it and they are so simple to do. You just coat the mould in vasilne put your glass/tiles at the bottom (it's upside down at this stage) and fill it with cement

    I hope this helps ya
