banger / stock racing

just wondering if anyone knows of any banger or stock car racing in or around the dublin area that the public can enter with there own banger. any light on this would be great thanks

Don't know about any tracks in or around around Dublin. If you want to get into stock car or banger racing I suspect you'll have to travel to Tipperary Raceway in Cashel. Though I read in 'Motorsport News' recently that Tipp Raceway is currently under threat and could end up being closed down. Here's hoping it won't be because, compared to the UK, we're very poorly served with the number of permanent tracks in this country so to loose somewhere like Tipp Raceway would be another blow to circuit racing here.

Friend of mine used to race in the Mini Stock category some years ago. Great craic it is and a relatively cheap and easy way to get into motorsport.

They havent had a banger race in tipperary for a few years now,which is annoying because i really enjoyed it, and the demolition derby events in the 90s.It doesnt look like they ever will run bangers again though again.All the irish banger events are in nutts corner as far as i know now,there is racing quite regularly.
