Not sure if any posters here ran Chicago yesterday, but there is a lesson for us all in that given the unseasonably warm weather we are also having.

Race was run in 25 degree heat with 80% humidity. 36,000 started the race - an estimated 4,000 finished (course was closed after 3hrs 50mins...with cops trying to stop people from running).

One person died, 250 taken to hospital. Runners have posted on other forums about aid stations running out of water and people just collapsing all over the place.

    Yikes!

There's a report on the race here on cool running. Although they say 25,000 of the 36,000 starters finished.

Sounds like the Rotterdam marathon this year although that race started at 11am and it was around 28 degrees at that time. We had to run through the hottest part of the day. Absolute hell. Again they started closing it at the 3h 30 mark.
Roll on a cold day in Dublin this year!!

Yes, that's the accurate figure. Mine was the number of finishers at the point when they decided to abandon the marathon.
