It does look like a bit of a shed

Here's a better one to tempt you - complete with voice warning system....

Mmmmm, two tone brown:D Seriously tho Irish people think that cars are worth alot when they dont see them on the roads anymore, the 1st one is verymuch so in the 'Twilight Zone' of car sales, worth about 400 slaps at most.

Forget the Laurel - I came across a Nissan President somewhere recently. Can't remember where though. could've been Carzone. Now that has all the bells and whistles! T'would be nice to see someone save the Laurel. had one a while ago - a 2.4 litre (i think) for practising my driving on private land in a completely professional and mature manner. ;)

My dad's neighbour had a Datsun Cedric 2.8 diesel years ago. Thank god them yokes will NEVER become classics, no matter how much people would like to believe they would.:D :D

Strange... it's described as an Amazon... i'm not an expert on Volvos (far from it), but a 145 is not an Amazon is it?

My father had this exact car, same colour too, brand new in 1978. The reg was 303 GZD and we all have fond memories of it ! It never let us down and was quite luxurious too. It was the first car I ever sat in that had cloth seats, all Dad's previous cars were company cars, basic spec, Ford Cortinas etc......

I recall one year, 1980, we came back from 2 weeks in Spain, it was January and snowing, the snow was piled high on the bonnet. The car was at our neighbours house and my father bet the neighbour, who had a Mk1 Granada 2.0GL that had just brought us back from the airport, that the Laurel would start quicker than the Granada !

    It did !!

Really smooth 6 cylinder engine, actually largely copied from the Mercedes Benz M180 engine, very similar to look at !

You're right it's not - it eventually replaced the Amazon when it died in 1970. A lot of the parts on the 145 were sourced from the Amazon though so its closely related. Maybe the seller is trying to increase its visibility to Volvo fans...

The Cedric is still being built for the Japanese market as a taxi and chauffeur driven vehicle. It now features a 2 litre LPG engine. As a taxi, it has an automatic rear passenger opening door..... The styling is pure 80s complete with chrome wing mirrors.

Actually that Volvo estate is very nice. lovely colour and red vinyl interior. Yum!!!

By the way, even if i came across a car that i didn't like i still wouldn't say bad things about it, because truthfully, all old cars bring a smile to my face, especially the ones that are (mostly) unloved, such as the Cedric and Laurel. It is my opinion that any car that has a fan will become classic, whether it has only one fan, or a million. it is a hobby afterall, this "classic" business, and as a hobby we should be allowed to pursue it without derision. Especially without the derision of others who share the hobby. What do you guys think??

Agreed. I always had a soft spot for old 70's/80's cars that were regarded as being shíte. These are the cars that will always end up being the rarest on the roads in future (just look at the Austin Metro and Ford Cortina, millions were sold back in the day, and now their is hardly any left).

Those old 140 series Volvo's, especially the 145 estate versions, are already commanding serious amounts of money for examples in good condition. With some of the Volvo specialist, superb one owner and low mileage examples are fetching in excess of 8k ! ...so if that car is in good nick (and I mean genuinely good nick ;) ) it's a steal at 2,5k

They're class, all 3 of them yokes, the president, the laurel, and the volvo.
But the Laurel is WAY overpriced for a car that so obviously need painting, the front valanve repaired, the bumper fitted, and probably a fair bit more rust around it. Damnit if i didnt want to go after another capri i'd seriously consider that nissan president

I must admit to having a bit of a datsun facination, and have a particular soft spot for the old 200L as i saw many of them smashed up in demolition derbys in rosegreen back in the day(anyone remember those!?) i always remember the dashboad containing a lot of dials and switches compared to the MK2 granada of the time, and they always seemed to have more class than the granada. The last one i saw on the road was a grey one in athlone about 7years ago,it had an #### LI reg,and wasnt looking in bad shape at all.I would be very surprised if there was any irish ones or even imported ones left roadworthy at all by now though, wishfull thinking id say:(
