    Argentina all the way.

That will be some match though

I say every journalist and critic that said "NH teams are 3 years behind the SH teams" Man they got it wrong yet again

why? is it because you're small minded ?

Nothing can be said against France. They deserved that win and showed tremendous composure.

And cop the hell on, if England win it, they deserve it.

This jealous ****e pisses me off no end. We screwed up, England got it together.

We still haven't heard the last of Munster's victory over a weakened touring New Zealand side - which goes back to 1978.

At least England have won something tangible.

If you feel that strongly about it, why not join the Continuity IRA?

I doubt it. They won't bully the French nor the Boks, who look very good. SA look the best team left and I'd fully expect them to do Fiji tomorrow. They'll also go through whoever comes out of the other match.

typical ****ing idiots - you say one word against the english and they automatically assume you are being racist or jealous - i couldnt care less about our useless 'team', i just hate the media coverage the english get in rugby and soccer.

    Stop reading their newspapers.

The Irish Times doesn't hype up the England soccer or rugby teams.

    Are you serious?

They have had the WORST defense of all the SH teams. Argentina will knock them out for sure.

Boks look terrible nothing world cup winning about them, when USA score a try from there own try line thats not good, when Tonga came within 5 points of them thats even worse.

    Final will be.

Argentina vs France but this time its extremely personal

What a match that would be

forget their newspapers, i normally enjoy watching the rugby club on sky and their general rugby coverage - it became painful watching it after they won it in 2003

simple, with their forwards and the illustrious wilkinson they are a well oiled machine - they are the underdogs and i just get the feeling they are going to do it....... made myself a nice earner when i backed them after the group stage in 2003, must check the odds for them now

hardly surprising that they'd crow about it - there'd be something wrong if they didn't.

Well today they deservedly got the better of a fairly poor Aussie team. Too many players past their sell by date imo. The Aussie scrum is also poor. England will not find that again.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 13,018 ✭✭✭✭jank

But thats the thing. They will be much more battle hardened then Aus or NZ.
They should take care of Fiji and will have a tough match against Argentina but the boks pack will come out on top there.

The Boks may choke, but if they play to their potential they will win the cup.

They have an excellent defence by the way Steve o.

I think that England winning the world cup was great for rugby as a whole. besides they barely had anytime to crow about it as they were then beaten by everyone left right and centre.

So please explain to me my two points i made.

I had the Boks to get into the Final after the Tri Nations but after seeing their pool games they have seem to have only one good game against England and looked very very shaky in the rest of the group games.

Good luck to them but my money lies elsewhere :p

They looked good in all the games bar the Tongan match. They fielded a full 2nd team with 6 first team players on the bench. The bok first team is strong but the dirt-trackers have had almost no game time.

Please go ahead and put your money elsewhere as you will get better odds on a Bok loss.

The first team has not been, as you say, "very very shaky".

    36-0 by the way.

    Really constructive point, muppet.

Anyway, I think it was a great result for NH rugby this evening. The All Blacks were being glorified to such a level that the rest of the competition was almost an aside. Now with the "enigmatic" French back in pole position, I fully expect a cracking final between France and S.A.

Mate re-read my post i said they played well against England and then were very very shaky for the rest of the group matches

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 704 ✭✭✭PeadarofAodh

Have another look at it though - a couple of weeks back people said England and France wouldn't get out of the group stages. When they do get out of the group stages people then say they have absolutely no chance against their next opposition. Wrong again. Now when they're set to play each other people are giving England no chance...I'd hesitate slightly before writing either of these teams off just yet!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

    I read your post.

The Tongan match was a 2nd string side.

    The other results were:

    36-0 Win over England
    59-7 Win over Samoa
    64-15 Win over USA

    How are those results shaky?

:) I'm trying not to be a typical one-eyed supporter here. I know that no result at this stage of the tournament is guaranteed. I do believe that the Boks are a quality side with an enormous amount of caps between them. In my opinion, provided they aren't caught flat, they should bring the cup home.

They could choke horribly and go home early.

So far they've performed perfectly, bar Jake Whites decision to field a weak team in the Tongan match. We almost say our butts on that one.

France and Argentina are looking the biz.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭RugBeir

I dont think the AB's look half as intimidating in the grey strip. Any chance Ireland could play against grey All Blacks? Definitely helps psychologically.

Mind you, I wonder why the ABs couldnt wear their usual strip tonight? In previous world cups there was no problem with this clash of colours - why did they have to go grey tonight?

But fair play to France and England all the same. Redeemed the NH countries reputation today after the damage done by Ireland and Wales. There will be one NH country in the WC final now.

Hahah thats alright mate just most Irish rugby players tend to be very broad minded. You support "Rugby" then "Ireland" and so on and so on.

As its been said before at this stage of the RWC ANYTHING can happen and today kinda backs me up. Though you should breeze past Fiji tomorrow.

I hope so mate. As you say I am a rugby fan first, a Bok fan second and a fan of my country of residence (Ireland of course) third. I took no pleasure in seeing them drop out of the cup.

The final 5 games are going to be amazing. The 2007 tournament has really lived up to the hype - even if the top 2 sides in the IRB rankings haven't. It's also great that the host nation could go all the way to the final.

    G'night rugby fans!

    Second that last statement.

For me a tournament loses a certain amount of it's magic if the host nation goes out before at least the semis. Couldn't be happier with today's rugby though, let's hope tomorrow can follow suit!

Fiji win, Fiji win...Come on Fiji win! :D

Wish I had placed a bet.

I've been saying England would win since weeks before it started.

They had NO pressure, they were tossed aside by all the pundits. Credit to them, they got it together against the odds.

Imagine if Ireland won the cup, we'd be raving about it for years and years! Just like any country should!

Anyone who likes champagne rugby won't want this english team to win. They are hard to watch.

France more than likely left their world cup behind last night. So I reckon Engerland will make it to the Final.

SA were Very good against england but I worry about how easily the USA breached their defences. If SA can get the A game going they should win. For SA it will only be a matter of their mental toughness whether they win the tournement or not.

I expect Argentina to run out of Gas soon. Plenty of Old dogs with plenty of tricks yes but Can see age catching up with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,446 ✭✭✭bugler

    England won't win the WC.

SA will beat Fiji, Argentina will beat Scotland.

Then SA will beat Argentina; and France will account for England.

Making a final of SA v France, with France winning. I didn't think France were capable of winning because I thought they had a mental block over the ABs. Now that's gone, I don't see what they have to fear from the sides left with the exception of Argentina again :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,247 ✭✭✭ROCKMAN

This may sound mad but if France win this world cup it will be down in no small part too their lost in the first game , That result help the team in a weird way ie pull the team etc etc. Also the French only need to win just two home matches ! Yes I know their are a world cup semi final and final but their home record is fantastic.
But then again I predicted an All blacks, ,RSA ,Australia 1,2,3 so what do I know:D
As for all the anti English Rugby/Country comments I think it is a touch of the green eyed monster.
