A&K M249 Pics

Howdy lads, my nice shipment of m249s arrived this morning, ordered 2 Para versions and 1 MK2 version, Mk2 is for myself, and one each of the PARA's for Dar and SamFisherJK

haven't had much of a chance to play with them this morning, but i did take the opportunity to snap a few pics (see attached. apologies for the low quality, had to use camera phone as camera battery is dead)

I was actually slightly surprised at the MK2, it's lighter than i expected, of course the plastic full stock is what makes the difference here, as the para has a full metal folding stock on it, however once a battery is installed here it will make a fair bit of difference to the weight.

Finish quality of the metal is excellent, couldn't see any signs of bad metal like you usually do on alot of clones

on the para version, you install a mini battery in the foregrip, this is accessed from the top by removing the forward barrel assembly, it can easily fit both an 8.4 and a 9.6 (see pictures) although the 9.6 doesnt look like it fits, the barrel can still be installed over it

mk2 battery is installed in the rear stock, although it is wired for a mini battery, it can comfortably fit a 9.6v large battery and there is plenty of room for possibly even 10.8v or 12v batteries (of course you'll likely need to upgrade a few internal components for that kind of voltage)

havent had a chance to fire it yet with bb's in the mag, but the rate of fire dry firing with a 9.6v sounds nice

was surprised when i took the barrel out that there wasn't too much gunk inside it, usually with clones, the barrel needs about an hour of cleaning before being usable, although this remains to be seen when i actually fire it

ill be offline for most of the weekend, but ill hopefully post a full review early next week, feel free to ask any questions in the meantime and ill let you know the answers when i have them :)

Note: these were downgraded to 1J before entering the country

They certainly look good, I'm anxious to hear how they perform, I'm still a bit sketchy about clones.

jeeze dude...that is art...gimme gimme gimme...

i was sure the battery was in the magazine box...but its in the stock...

man how did you manage to leave them this morning?? cant have been easy!!!

not being too nosey but was the charge by tnt much as i might order one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

total order value was about 800 euro, approx 200 of which was shipping, there was 141euro customs charges on it that i had to pay at the door

thumbs up for TNT aswell, ive never had anything shipped through them before, they contacted me yesterday to get the OK on delivery with the customs charges so that i would know to have the cash ready, then the driver left me a voicemail this morning to ask what time i would be home at during the day and when i rang him back he was on the way to my house and gave him directions to my front door.

Fall: from what i know, the battery is in the box mag on the Star version and/or the CA version

i can understand your skepticism but i currently own all clones except for my tm p90 and ive never had problem with them, but personally ive no problem getting stuck in and rebuilding a gearbox if necessary, i probably wont even skirmish the 249 until i've given it a rebuild. although it is easily skirmishable right out of the box

Well I had to open up the gearbox on the DBoys M4 that I bought last week after it jammed at HRTA and it took a heap of fiddling and three of us looking at it to make it work... and at that we are not sure what we did to get it working again. Gearboxes scare me!

Sweet, can't wait for my mk2 to arrive. I think I creamed myself looking at those pic's. Can you fire it and tell me what the feed from the mag to the gun is like with a 9.6volt?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

krazy_8s: im in galway for the weekend and haven't actually had a chance to test fire it yet, but it will be one of the first things i do on monday after work :)

will let you know how it feeds, from what i know the mags dont have too much trouble keeping up with the rate of fire.

So the gearbox does need to be re-built? I know I plan to do it, but not straight away.

when you say rebuild the gear box, what does that entail?

I think he means stripping the gearbox down to its skivvies and giving it a good clean, a proper lubing and replaceing hte parts that are junk for decent bits that will survive the strain of use.

... I made that sound a lot more debauched than it probably is.

that's pretty much it, i took it apart there the other night and replaced the piston/piston head and cylinder head, i just threw some spares that i had lying around into it, gonna order some decent parts for it next week

not really, you'd get away with leaving it as is, but i've got a few modifications in mind :)

Stick an m203 on it :D

Im looking at how to mount a sun project one on my SG1. Think a ris rail mounted on the bottom would acomadate it nicely. Cant remember if sun project do the RIS m203 or was it the other crowd? ANYWAY: Wont know till i buy a ris rail and mount that first. My plan is so simple its fool proof....but im more than a fool so it might go horribly wrong

Know how you feel, I just spent around €330 of bits and bobs from RSOV. It's amazing how it all adds up in the end. Out of curiosity where did you order your parts from?
