What, We Don't Deserve RB?

While considering registering for the IPO i was browsing for a rake back deal on Mermaid I was quite disappointed to say the least when i discovered the following.

Go to mermaidpoker.com and click on promotions once you have done so, select Swedish as your preferred choice of language, all of a sudden you will be entitled to rake back, however if you are selecting any other language, it would appear that you will not be offered up to 30% RB directly from MP as is the case with Swedish customers.

Anna can we have an explanation as to why RB is exclusively offered to your Swedish customer base and not us?

thats irrelevant, i meant it was better than "PP have wide and rangin RB etc...."

There are other Boss network sites that DO ofer rakeback deals to Irish players.

It mightn't be meant as an insult but it appears that Swedish players get preferential treatment over everybody else which is simply wrong if that is the case.

Well spotted by OP imo, surprised that a site would think that this kind of difference would go unnoticed indefinitely and as a marketing strategy I think is very bad, I don't play on mermaid (or any Boss network skin as yet) but if I did I would be well p1ssed off.

I was being cynical with my choice of title but now that you mention it their marketing strategy does have cross cultural implications which clearly illustrates Sweedish players being more savy than their Irish counterparts.

With all the sign ups achieved through the IPO i think this is very unfair to all those players, Swedish players are offered RB yet we get freerolls!

Yes it's just a different marketing strategy but imo it's poor marketing strategy to allow one sector to become aware of preferential treatment over another.

Now, any Swedish speakers about that could give me a hand registering my account?

Svenska Spel is licensed by their own government obviously enough, I believe that taxes from online poker winning are only applicable to money earned on sites licensed outside the EU in Sweden, which would include Mermaid poker for example which is licensed in Canada.

A possible reason for what you found Samba is this: you can get rakeback on Mermaid from any country through rakeback providers as far as I know. But being a rakeback provider in Sweden is seriously dodgy right now. The Swedish government has recently decided to target Swedish rakeback providers and directing sites for taxes. Maybe Mermaid have reacted to this by offering rakeback deals for Swedish players themselves...or maybe not. Might just be a way of fighting the popularity of Svenska Spel.

Btw the Swedish National Institute of Public Health released a report this week on online poker in its country with a sample of 16,500 people. Bloody report is only available in Swedish but 1.9% of the sample had played online poker in past month. It also found that 27% of them were problem gamblers, though their measure of it was a joke.

Sorry i missed this one completley.
Been to occupied with that thing.. ehhh IPO.:)

A lot of the explenations has already been done in the Thread by yourselfs.
We got differnt market strategies for differnt countries, most sites do.
Based on what we feel is most wanted.

As you can see the swedish players are not offered signup bonus as the other countries are.

Anyone can play with rakeback at Mermaidpoker its just to let us know and we work that out. Pokerireland has 2 different links to choose between and everyone contacting them in this will get another link to sign up trough and get RB.

If already having an account with sign up bonus instead let me know if you rather have RB and i will sort that out.

NB: svenska spel is a Boss skinn, just not mixed with other skinns, you can only meet swedish players and therefor not take part of the tourneys and promotions from the Boss Media Network.
