    Ha.. bang on with that!

I think from the look of the trailer.. it may suffer from what Burton's films has suffered a lot from recently - all style, little substance!

It still looks very different (but then again, Burton never makes film's to the norm).

I'm looking forward to it... it'll just be interesting to see how the songs translate to screen. Didn't Sacha Baron Cohen look very different also?

    Just a little, yeah.

I go back and forth on Burton, even his best films are guilty of the style over substance charge, I mean, both Batmans were slightly shortchanged because Burton wanted to focus on the over the top villains (At least Chris Nolan was taking notes...) and for how great Scissorhands looks, you could fit the plot on a postcard.

That said, he's been making solid, decent films for the last couple of years after Planet of the Apes was so bad, so here's hoping.

Cheers Basquille Ive been bloody dying for this one.

Over the last few years as I have seen more of his films I have really come to like Tim Burton. Hard to argue with the "style over substance" charges but nobody is making films like his and when the films are so unique and have so much character I think he can be forgiven.

Like the play. If there ever was a musical Burton was born to do, surely this is it?

I like Burton even though he's a bit of a one-trick pony (with the exception of Ed Wood - my personal fave is Sleepy Hollow) but I wish he'd start using some new bloody actors - Depp is great don't get me wrong but does he have to be in EVERY film he feckin makes????? His British accent is crap too - he gets away with it as Jack Sparrow but in this and "From Hell" he's atrocious.

His voice sounds too like Jack Sparrow. Id rather Burton used some different actors too and im a big Depp fan...

Looks good, but I can see where people get the idea that Burton is a one trick pony. I wouldn't agree, but he definetly has his save zone, so to speak. I think he does need to step out of the gothic realm a bit more, because Ed Wood was my absolute favourite of his, where as some of his other films were just treading the same water.

Sweeney Todd looks considerably darker than any of his film though, so I'm definetly giving it the benefit of doubt, but would agree that he could use a change in cast every once in a while. Depp is good, but come on...

It does certainly look like a morbid and dark little number. Heard good things about the musical too (even if it is the lowest form of entertainment ;)). I tend to be a bit indecisive on Tim Burton though - I really liked Big Fish and Ed Wood, but on the other hand Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Apes were massive disapointments in my eyes (and Im sure many others).

Well, will wait and see what he comes up with.
